I did everything I could to abate the rumors but it was of no use, rather, it became a hot topic in the pack that even restrictions couldn't put an end to it.

Because of the intensity of the rumor, Stephanie got wind of it, leaving me at the edge of the cliff but her reaction calmed me down.

Instead of flaring up and attempting to leave the pack, she did nothing of that sort.

The elders were not helping matters as they were on my neck concerning Stephanie's loyalty even after my several reassurances that she was on our side.
