Love is not divorce:
Aurora picks up her phone to call her best friend immediately James left, she felt choked up and she didn’t know what to do, one thing she was sure of was the fact that she definitely didn’t want to die by suicide. She knew Susan was angry, but if she didn’t pick she didn’t know what she would do, she was currently scattered it’s like her train of thought was somewhere under wherever as she couldn’t seem to think clearly. Susan didn’t pick up on the first ring, definitely she was trying to rebel, she was about to call again when Susan’s name flashed across her screen, she was beyond grateful, her best friend still thought of her. On the third ring Aurora picks the call, immediately Susan’s voice rings in her ear from the other side of the call right away.
“I miss you” she says, tears making her words come out in gasps.
“I miss you too” Aurora confesses,
“And I have decided to do what is right, James is going on a trip with Diana leaving me behind, and I do not like it, I want to be strong Susan” as hiccups intervene in between her phrases, they come out in little bursts.
“shh, it’s okay Aurora, remember I am always here for you, even when you are stubborn” she says adding a chuckle at the end.
“Thank you so much Susan, thank you for always being here when I need your help, Susan I am indeed so grateful, and I appreciate”
“listen ill get back to you in the next two hours Aurora, I just need to tidy up something’s then I will reach out to you” Susan says, its like she read Aurora’s mind because at that moment sleep crept in, and knowing her best friend in the next two hours she herself would also be fast asleep.
“So its tomorrow then?” she asks, a laugh threatening to burst out her lips.
“Yeah its till tomorrow, sleep well Aurora, make sure not to think too much I love you babe” Aurora smiles in response and ends her call. She doesn’t wash her face, neither does she contemplate removing her clothes and changing into something comfortable, she just lays on the bed, and drifts to sleep.
The next morning after having a quick bath Aurora immediately tidies up herself and begins unpacking, she’s made it half way through when Susan comes in, she had a smile on her face immediately she heard her voice, Susan had always been the fearless one, but its is a wonder how someone will not care to ring the doorbell when coming into someone’s house, and Aurora had forgotten exactly whe she gave her passcode to Susan.
‘I’m here best friend” Susan says as she hurriedly throws herself on Aurora’s body, she wraps herself with ease around Aurora making herself comfortable on her back, Aurora struggles to keep up with the weight placed behind her as she staggers toward the bed, her face turning crimson from the strangulation.
“Would you behave yourself young lady” Aurora warns Susan, her voice coming off playful and lighthearted.
“I wouldn’t do that for the world” Susan says, a smile gracing her lips.
“I see you are packing” Susan not so gracefully falls off her back, holding her waist in reflex.
“Oh my God that hurt”
“Sorry about that Su” Aurora says as she pulls more of her clothes out of her hangers.
“Could you help me” Aurora pleads with Susan as she drops more of her clothes on the bed.
“Of course what else could I be here for if not to lend a helping hand” she drops her purse on the small chair beside her foot and folds her long sleeves.
“So where should I begin then?” she asks.
“From wherever you want to, just make sure to separate whatever you are supposed to” Aurora responds.
“What exactly am I supposed to separate in your clothing, when you literally put on the same type of outfit all the time?”
“okay I get your point, just help me pack up, ill want to leave this place by tomorrow if I am lucky to have found an apartment by then” Susan pauses mid-air, like she perceived something awful.
“what do you mean pack into some place, when you have me, you can still with me till whenever you are very comfortable to stay in your own apartment, my goodness your best friend has a mansion with over twelve rooms, and you want to stay elsewhere?” Susan asks.
“Thank you Susan, I was going to stay at your place with or without your permission, just wanted to joke around a little” Aurora bends down to retrieve one of her skirts that fell off her hand.
Two weeks later:
It’s like she knew something was going to come up, because two weeks later both she and James brother were summoned at the Macpherson’s mansion, James parent’s house. The news of James affair with Diana had blown out of proportion just three days after Aurora’s relocation.
“I need you to sign this” Clinton hands the divorce papers over to his wife, or maybe ex-wife now, Macpherson’s dad, Jude bows his head in frustration as his sons both hands divorce papers over to their wives, it was like misery had come to poke his head somewhere inside his family. Jessie had run upstairs a few minutes ago with her grandson; she didn’t want to witness the nonsense as she called it few minutes back.
“Here” Susan hands the divorce papers over to him.
“Your alimony will be strong enough for you to build a mansion” James tells Aurora after she hands him the papers. He even smiles at her, his happiness quite visible, It angers Aurora but there is nothing she can do about it.
Diana all through the meeting kept sneaking glances at her ex-husband, the younger brother to James, she even found it hard to sign the divorce papers, after much whispers from James she finally did sign it.
One would wonder how a beautiful woman like Diana would forsake a man as fine as Clinton for his older brother; they even had a good looking son together. In a sign of finality, Aurora bends her head in the direction of her ex-father-in-law.
