Calum's POV
"How about we go to Baltimore this weekend?" I suggested to Harry and Michael, more like asked.
We've been talking about the Hustlers. I am ready to see them, to talk to them and to set things back again. They are our friends, our brothers in the mafia society.
"I don't see why not." Harry answers.
"Yeah." Michael agreed. "I miss the guys."
"And I bet they'd love to meet Dylan." Harry says.
"Seems like you are fond of my kid, huh?" I say, feeling proud as a Dad.
"Well, he is a jolly kid." Harry shrugged.
Weekend came and we are now on the road going to Baltimore. Harry is driving, Michael is sleeping, my eyes are on the road, and Dylan is being.. Well, Dylan.
"Daddy?" Dylan called from the backseat.
"Yeah?" I turned to him.
"Can we buy McDonald's?" He asked. "I'm hungry." He pouted as he sit back from looking at his window.
"Well, okay." I say.
Harry pulled over at the gas station with some fast food and restaurants around it. We went inside and had some lunch.
"Daddy, I want a toy!" Dylan demanded.
"But, Dylan, you already have your toys with you at the car." I say.
"But I want it." He pouted.
Oh, this kid is such a spoiled cutie. Well, gotta admit that it's my fault because I spoiled him, gave and bought him every toy he wanted.
"Dylan, you already got some toys at the car." Michael says as I was about to say yes to Dylan. "Let's buy some other time. Okay?"
"But Uncle Mikeyyyyy." Dylan whined, causing some people to looks at us.
"Let's just buy you a lot of chicken nuggets." Michael tells him. "That's better than toys." He smiled.
Dylan remained silent for a while, thinking if he will agree to Michael's suggestion or what.
"Okay!" Dylan finally said.
I looked at Michael with awe and he just shrugged. I should ask Michael to teach me whatever that shit is.
Later on, we sat on the table and munched our not so healthy fast food meals. Dylan as usual is a bit messy, but I love the way he is. The way he chuckles everytime I try to clean his mouth off.
We are on our way back to our when Dylan decided to run off to cross at the other side where our car is.
"Dylan!" I ran after him. "Dylan!" I called again when a car stopped before hitting him.
Dylan fell on the ground and started crying.
"Dylan!" I say as I stop beside him, knelt down and help him up.
Dylan hugged me as he cry. I stand up and saw that the driver of the car is already out.
"Oh my, God." She exclaimed. "I am so sorry!"
"You almost killed my son!" I yelled at her.
"Cal!" I heard Michael behind me.
I can still hear Dylan crying and feel him shaking as he clings to me.
"You know that this place is full of cars." She tells me. "You should not let your kid run around."
"Whatever." I say, knowing that she is right. "Just be safe with your driving next time." I added as I look straight to her eyes. "Let's go." I tell Harry and Michael before I start walking.
"Well, be safe and watch your kid next time!" She yelled, but I ignored her.
I am now at the backseat with Dylan, and Michael is now on the passenger seat. Harry started the engine and we drove off.
"You okay, angel?" I ask Dylan as I scan his arms and legs for any sign of wounds or whatever.
"I'm sorry, Daddy." Dylan says with a low voice as he put his head down.
"Never ran off like that again, okay?"
Dylan just nodded his head.
"Good boy." I say. "Love you, angel." I added as I pull my kid gently to me and kiss his head.
"Isn't that the famous model in LA?" Harry says.
"I don't care." I spat. "She almost hit Dylan with her car."
"It's an accident, Cal." Michael says. "And Dylan is not hurt."
"What if Dylan got hurt or worse?"
Michael just sighed and Harry remained quiet. I might be over reacting, but damn, we're talking about my son, and I can't and won't let anyone hurt him.
The rest of the trip was quiet. We are almost in Baltimore when I decided to break the silence.
"Sorry for a while ago." I say. "Just that, I got scared earlier when I heard Dylan cry on the ground."
"We understand, Cal." Michael tells me and Harry nodded.
I looked at Dylan who fell asleep. He is my little treasure and I want to protect him, but yeah, accidents do happen sometimes.
"We're here." Harry announced as we stop in front of the Hustlers' mafia house.
Harry honked the horn and few seconds later, Alex came out from the front door and waved at us. We went down of the car and he welcomed us.
"Welcome back to Baltimore, guys." Alex says. "Who is the little kid?" He asked when his gaze landed at Dylan who I am carrying.
"My son." I answered. "His name is Dylan."
"You have a son?" Alex asked, obviously confused.
"Yeah." I answered. "Let's talk about that later."
We entered the house and I brought Dylan to the room where we are staying. Harry and Michael is on a different room as well.
We all gathered at the bar lounge of the mafia house. Seeing Jack made me nervous, and I can say that he is too. He gave me a smile and I returned it.
"Well, it's been like 4 years, huh?" Rian broke the silence.
I looked around the room to see the same expression on their faces. As if like we are watching what happened that time on somewhere in this room.
That incident is like a very dark past for us. A depressing one. I have no idea what to say or how to react at Rian's opening, so I remained silent as I feel the cold beer bottle in my hand.
"How are you guys?" Zack asked, looking at me then at Michael.
"It was a tough time but I think we survived it." I answered.
"That is good to hear then." Alex says.
"Who is the little one, anyway?" Rian asked.
"My son." I answered. "His name is Dylan." And the rest of the Hustlers' gave me a surprised expression.
"Does that mean you are--"
"No." I cut Zack off. "I adopted him from the orphanage where I came from."
Silence filled in the room as I look at each of the Hustlers.
"Just don't tell him that." I say. "Or I'll kill you guys."
"He is cute." Alex says before drinking.
"I know." I shrugged. "I'm going out for a smoke." I added.
I went out at the backyard and the wind is a bit cold. The sky is full of stars, and it reminded me of her, how she loves the starry night sky of New York. I pulled out the pack of cigarette from my pocket and took a stick. I lighted the end of the stick and huffed it.
"Calum?" I heard from behind as I puff the smoke, my heart started to race a bit as I realized that it is Jack's voice.
I put my arms down on my side with the cigarette stick still on the middle of my fingers. I took a deep breath before turning to face him.
"Drink?" Jack asks as he offers me the beer bottle.
It took me a few seconds before deciding to accept the drink.
"Thanks." I say.
It was pure silent for a moment, the wind blew cold and it gave me shivers. I feel nervous of what's gonna happen in this conversation, but I am hoping for the best. So both of us can close the unfinished chapter of when he left me on my bedroom 4 years ago.
"I'm sorry for what I did." Jack finally spoke up.
I felt a lump on my throat. I have no idea what to respond on that apology.
"I haven't been able to sleep properly for the past 4 years because of what happened." Jack continues. "Knowing that it's my fault on why you became miserable."
"Jack.."
"I know what happened to you, Michael is updating us, me, once in a while." He added, his voice is about to break into crying. "And I'm blaming myself because it's my fucking fault." And tears started to run down on his face.
I am speechless. I can't find the words, the right ones to respond to Jack's apology. My heart is breaking for my friend, my mafia brother. I can see that he is really sincere, that he just really wants to save me from the danger of the burning building.
"I am so sorry, Cal." Jack cried. "I am so sorry." He fell on his knees as he cry, apologizing.
This is not how I expected it will happen. That one of my closest friends will break down in tears because of what happened 4 years ago. Should I forgive him now? Am I ready to forgive him? But then I remembered Summer, on how she thought me to forgive people so that your heart won't have any grudge.
"Jack," I called. "It's okay, man."
I placed the beer bottle down on the ground. I reached for Jack's shoulders and he looked up at me.
"I forgive you, man." I say. "It's been a hard time, but I guess time already healed me."
Jack just looked at me, waiting for me to say more.
"I know you did that to save me, and I owe you one." I say. "I guess?" Then we kinda laughed a little. "I appreciate what you did and what you said a while ago."
I helped Jack to stand on his feet. He wiped his wet face before looking back at me.
"I'm okay now, Jack." I smiled. "Sometimes I still feel sad about losing her, but I still have reasons to continue my life." I added. "I have my brothers, my son and my friends."
"Thanks, Cal."
"Dylan is the reason on why I'm trying not to lose myself again." I say. "He is the reason why I continued my life in a good way."
"I'm glad that kid came in to your life." Jack smiled.
"Me too." I say. "Me too."
"We're okay now?" Jack asked and I nod yes. "Thanks, Cal. I appreciate it."
Michael's POV
"Daddy?" A sleepy Dylan with a bear in his hand appeared in the mini bar.
"Why are you up, sweetie?" I ask as I walk to him.
"Daddy is not in the room, Uncle Mikey." Dylan sleepily answered. "Where is he?"
"Oh." I say. "He is outside, talking with your Uncle Jack." I added as I kneel down on his level.
Dylan moved forward and hugged me.
"I'm sleepy, Uncle Mikey." Dylan tells me. "I want my Daddy and my Mommy."
Dylan's last word made my heart beat fast as I place my arm around his little figure.
"I miss my Mommy." Dylan says then I felt new people in the room.
I looked up to see Jack and Calum is now in the room. I can say that Calum heard what Dylan said, I can see it on how his expression drifted.
"Dylan, angel?" Calum called.
"I think he is now asleep." I say as I stand on my feet, carrying Dylan.
"I'll take him back on the room." Calum says as I gently hand Dylan to him. "Goodnight, guys."
Calum walked out of the mini bar with Dylan in his arms. My heart still racing on Dylan's words.
"My heart went crazy when he asked for his Mom." Alex broke the silence.
"Who is the Mom that she knows?" Zack asked.
"Summer." I answered.
"Poor kid." Rian commented.
Jason's POV (We are now using Jason bc this is not a flashback anymore)
Daine and are now here on a fancy hotel in Stratford, spending the weekend. Jade is spending the weekend on my parents' place then Cameron flew back to California to check his mafia business.
"Daine?" I called from our suite's living room area.
"Yeah?" She answered from the bedroom.
"You ready to swim?"
"Almost." She answered then I heard a little chuckle after.
I took my attention back at the TV, on a show that I have no idea why I'm even watching. Then memories flashed in my head, when we spent my birthday in Los Angeles.
Daine went out of the room in her messy bun and oversize shirt.
"I though we're going swimming?" I rose a brow.
"I feel lazy to swim today." She pouted.
She walked and sat beside me on the couch.
"And I miss Jade." She added as she leans her head on my shoulder.
"I miss her too, babe." I say before kissing the side of her head. "How about we just stay in and watch some movies?"
"Okay." She smiled at me.
Daine's POV (bc we all know why hahaha)
Jason pulled out his laptop and arranged some movies. I stand up on my feet the moment I heard the popcorn pooping on the microwave oven. I pulled out a bowl from the cupboard.
"Movie is ready!" I heard Jason yelled from the bedroom.
"Coming!" I answered back.
"I chose Big Hero 6 because I love that movie." He tells me as I enter the room.
"Okay then." I say.
I took the free side of the bed. Jason scooted closer to me as the movie started. I looked at him to see how excited he is for this cartoon movie.
In the middle of the movie, I had some blurry flashback on my head. It is blurry but I can say that the girl is me and the guy is dark haired and his skin tone is a bit tan. He has a few tattoos but I can't really tell what are they because it is just really blurry.
"You okay?" Jason's voice took me back in my senses.
"Y-yeah." I answered.
He kissed me on my cheek before turning his attention back into the movie.
And now, I am confused. Who is that guy that I am with in that blurry vision? Am I missing something in my life?
