Chapter 41

Aria's POV

We don't sleep that night. Nobody does. The whole fortress is awake preparing for battle. Sharpening weapons. Checking armor. Saying goodbye to loved ones just in case.

I'm in the armory with Derek helping distribute arrows when Beth runs in.

"They're here. Scouts spotted them coming through the valley. They'll be at our gates within the hour."

My hands freeze on the arrows I'm holding. "Already? I thought we had until dawn."

"Damien doesn't wait. He attacks when you don't expect it."

We grab everything we can carry and rush to the walls. Drogo is already there organizing the defense. His face is hard and focused....
