Carmen woke up the next morning to the continuous buzzing of her phone. She angrily grabbed the pillow and pressed it over her head to block out the noise. But whoever that was calling remained persistent.

Finally, Carmen threw the pillow on the floor. Then she sat up, grabbed her phone, and answered the call while trying not to sound annoyed.

“What have you done, my child!” Mrs. Smith's angry and yet worry voice flowed into Carmen's ear.

“Mother, what happened?” Carmen hastily asked.

Her eyes bore concern as she waited for her mother to reply.

“You haven't seen the news yet?” Mrs. Smith's voice came out of the phone...
