Dax stood still as he stared at the wooden door surface. He didn't know how long he had been standing at Carmen’s hotel room door, but every time he thought about leaving, his legs wouldn't permit him to do so.
Finally, Dax gained the courage to knock. He gently tapped on the door and waited. After waiting for another three seconds, he knocked again.
Four minutes later Dax got no response, so he knocked a bit harder then waited.
“Maybe she's sleeping,” Dax mumbled.
Yet his troubled heart couldn't permit him to walk away from that door. So he stood there for a couple of minutes before knocking again.
