Carmen woke up the next morning to the sound of her ringtone. She tossed in bed a few times, then with her eyes closed, her hand searched the nightstand for her phone until she got a hold of it and answered the call.

“Good morning,” Carmen said with sleep still in her eyes while wondering who was calling her this early.

“Carmen, are you awake?” Lina's voice rings in Carmen's ears.

'Mother?' Carmen thought.

Immediately the sleep left her body when she realized that she was speaking with Liam's mom. Carmen was now wide awake, and she quickly sat up in bed.
