Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Collins stood up from the bed disappointedly, yet again she'd just managed to keep him unsatisfied. She only focused on her own satisfaction and whenever she got it, she just vanished. Leaving Collins with nothing but a headache and an erection that won’t go away unless he touches himself or gets a chilling shower. It was the norm but each time she brought him in here, he still hoped that one day she would return the favor. Maybe he should have asked her why she did that, but she was a god who he was lucky to be smashing. Sleeping with her makes him more powerful, she told him that. He should be more grateful, he was the only one in this pack.

“Damn that bitch” Hades cursed, he hated everything she was doing to Collins, but he couldn't do anything because she was stronger than him. Collins knew his wolf hated her but he was the balance between both of them. No matter how much Hades angered her, she never took him away from Collins as he does to their captive. She is a nice woman. There was no time to get a chilling shower, he just went with the other option.

Collins wore his clothes and he left the room, he got outside and met Shantel and the rest of the pack members. The drummings have started back and they were in full celebration mode, only that something felt terribly wrong. He couldn’t shake off that unusual feeling that was moving around him.

"You're back," Shantel said, glaring at him suspiciously, but he only nodded. He knew she was acting like that because he was the supreme queen’s anointed. No matter how much he told her that they would never be anything between them, he would only love his true mate and not anyone. Maybe she needed to stop mixing sex with emotions and act like the supreme queen. Accept the sex like it is your best even if she never satisfies him and Shantel does, and forget about it.

All this while Shantel felt like barging into the room they were in, but she knew that would only cause her death, the Supreme Queen was a no-nonsense lady, and she didn't know the level of powers she had. She was as ruthless as the devil itself and she wouldn’t spare her a glance before destroying her and everything she stands for. It’s always that easy for her and Shantel still wanted to live.

"Mason!!!." They heard someone screaming behind them and every attention snapped back to the direction of the screams.

Collins immediately rushed there and he saw Jason tried as though he was roasted by fire, he instantly knew what happened. The supreme queen had punished a dirty one, and Jason had gone against their rules.

"Throw him into the lake." He ordered firmly, whatever happened, he needed to obey whatever rule the supreme queen had laid down for them. He should have known that peace wouldn’t last for a long time, it was just there, irritating as hell.

"No..no..you can't do that, Mason is my son, what happened to him?." The old woman asked and Collins felt bad for her but rules were rules.

"Old Nana, your son committed a grave offense," Collins said.

"What do you mean by that?" Shantel asked because she hadn’t seen the boy do anything.

"He's secretly having an affair with a she-wolf outside our pack." He said.

"What!!!, my son would never do that, he'll never go against the rules." Old Nana yelled.

Collins knew that's the only reason for this death, any day the Supreme Queen came to visit them, someone ends up dead, and it was always because of their rules, never to have an affair with any wolf outside their Rogues pack.

"Throw him into the lake." He ordered and some werewolves came and they pulled Jason's body along with them.

He's useless to them already, since the Supreme Queen had already taken his wolf. Collins knew by the way his eyes looked empty and he couldn’t fight off the warrior wolves holding him.

"Poor Mason." Shantel mentally thought, and her hatred for the Supreme Queen grew stronger.

"You can all go back to your huts." He said to them, there was no need to wait around and drum again. The whole mood had been ruined.

They all left except for Shantel so stayed behind. She badly wanted to ask Collins what happened between him and the Supreme Queen, but the last time she did that, it almost caused their relationship.

"Do you have something to say?." Collins asked, he noticed she was just staring at him.

"Umm...yes..no." She stammered.

"Spill it out already, I'm going hunting." He said.

"Can I tag along with you?." She asked instead of what was bothering her initially and he rolled his eyes. Must she be in the same space as him every time, it was starting to get him mad.

"Obviously, you can't. So stay behind and you can watch over our pack." He said to her and she nodded.

"Bye, I love you." She blurted and he stood on his track and he smiled at her. She never learns and she ends up making him mean to her for no reason, she was a good person but she was being blind and stupid right now.

"Thanks for loving me, but my feelings remain the same, I don't love you." He declared bluntly before moving and her next words made him stop in his tracks as if he couldn’t believe she uttered them.

"You'll learn to love me, Collins." She replied almost immediately and Collins turned back to look at her. She looked pathetic with the way she was trying to project the whole love thing but he wasn’t going to tell her that. He just needed her to get out of his sight, he wasn’t in the mood for her tonight.

"I would never love you, Shantel." He said firmly and he looked like he would rather be anywhere than be here discussing whether she loved him or not.

"But we do have sex." She replied bitterly., not what she wanted to say but it just came out of her mouth. She watched the way he paused to look at her before his face broke into a smile, he took her as a clown. How dare he!

"That's because you have something I can never refuse, fucking you doesn't mean I love you." He said without remorse. This was a slap on Shantel's cheek, she felt like punching someone, his words cut deep into her heart. He knew the effect of his words yet he uttered them anyway, he didn’t care. He just wanted to get her off his back and it worked, Shantel felt like a bucket of water had been emptied on her.

"You..." She pursed her lips, then she smiled sadly. She didn’t blame him, she brought this on herself. If only she could wean her heart off him but she has tried various times, but none worked. She shouldn’t have slept with him or let it escalate into a regular thing. Now she was just a sex thing to him and she caught feelings already. Her mate would be out there and she wasn’t even allowed to love them because of the rules of the stupid supreme queen. The ones within her reach don’t want her, at least the person that wants her, she doesn’t want them.

"Yeah, fucking me doesn’t mean we're in love." She agreed with him with a sad smile, it was the right thing to do at the moment, one wrong word from her would be the end for them, and she couldn't afford to lose him. At least if she wasn’t the center of his attraction, she had him in her corner as a good friend, she wouldn’t want to toss that out of the window stupidly. Things like this take time, especially since he knew his mate was out there.

"Bye," Collins said and he walked away whistling wondering how he was going to spend the night. Maybe he would join the others and watch their borders overnight, he has no plans of returning to his own bed tonight.

"I'll have you, Collins, you're mine." She whispered to herself and she smiled darkly. She would have Collins no matter what it took her, she would never back down.

Barricades were set around their pack, and weapons made with wolfsbane and silver were given to the pack warriors. Though the wolfsbane is also harmful to them, they were careful enough, they masked their hands so they wouldn't be affected by the silver and wolfsbane.

It was nighttime, and they were here to protect their pack from any form of danger. Alpha Mount was at the front line making sure their defenses were in order. They couldn’t afford to lose their guard, not at this time. Whatever the rogue organization was on that made them feel like they would defeat the pack, then they better think again.

Tess was close to her father, assisting him in whatever he needed. She felt useful, she was serving her pack and helping her people. She loved doing it she would rather sit there with them than be home in her bed. One thing she was grateful for tonight was being her father's daughter. He could have treated her differently but he didn't.

Arrows were lined up and warriors were behind them, this was their defense in case of any sneaky attack. Nobody was going to act smart with them tonight, not like they would survive any form of attack. They were angry on behalf of their brothers and sisters who has fallen in the line of defending their land, they would rather die than watch the same land get overpowered.

The arrows weren't just ordinary arrows, it was made of wolfsbane and silver, and they can be really harmful to werewolves. They had spent the whole day crafting more than enough so they won't have to run out of them halfway, if any pack comes with them with war tonight, they are hundred percent sure they would take them down without any remorse.

"Tess go get me the knives at the back of the abandoned warehouse." Alpha Mount said and she nods. She stood up from the spot she was leaning on and she started to move towards where her father had instructed her to go.

The abandoned warehouse was where they store their weapons, it was a scary place and not all werewolves could go in there. Rumors had it that, rogue werewolves are around the warehouse and they're likely to kill anyone who's found there.

Alpha Mount knew his daughter isn't a weakling that's why he sent her there, she was the future of his pack and he knew she'll pull through. No matter what was waiting there, Tess could easily bring them down. Tess kept doing what she was doing and she did and she left, she wasn't a bit scared of anything, just because she hadn't gotten her wolf doesn't mean she'd cower in fear.

Collins walked into the woods in search of a game, as the leader of his pack, he had certain duties he had to fulfill. The meat they had wouldn't last them till the next day, so he had to get food for them. He was still walking when a deer ran past him, he immediately ran after the deer, chasing it hotly.

The deer wasn't an easy one to get, he ran for his dear life, not sparing Collins the chance to catch him. Collins chased the deer hotly, he didn't realize it when he ventured into Evergreen's pack. When he realized he had crossed his limit, it was too late for him, and an arrow from nowhere came flying and it hit him hard on his chest. It was almost like they had been waiting for him to come tonight and he wondered how he got carried away tonight of all nights.

"Arrrrrgh!!!." He yelled painfully, the pain he felt was different from the others he'd experienced. This kind was not the one he was used to, he felt like he would pass out instantly at the contact.

"Wolfsbane." He mumbled, he could feel the effect of the wolfsbane weakling him. He tried running but he just couldn't, his legs were numb and weak. Before he could fathom what was going on, multiple arrows came, he managed to dodge some of the arrows, but he wasn't fast enough, two arrows hit him hard on the same spot and he fell heavily to the floor. He should have just listened to his wolf when he asked them to run.

"Go get the trespasser." He heard someone yell, but he was too weak to react. He could hear their footsteps coming toward where he lay, it was only a matter of time before he is discovered. He couldn't even get up and run for his dear life. He was trying to get rid of the poisoned arrow but he was getting drained of whatever strength was left in him.

He lay on the floor, grunting in pain. His only thought was how disappointed the supreme queen would be and how much his people would never be able to achieve their goal.
