We didn’t talk the entire way home. When we got inside, we stood in the foyer in silence.

"Um, I’ll take you to the guest bedroom," I murmured, and he nodded.

On our way upstairs, my mom met us.

"Calling it a night?" she smiled.

"I’m showing him to his room," I told her, glancing back at my husband, who was a step behind me. My mom raised an eyebrow.

"Showing him to the guest bedroom? Honey, you’re married," she said softly.

"You shouldn't sleep separately."
