The sun hung high in the sky, warming everything under it. Jasper, Ruby, and Diamond were darting around in the tall grass under the watchful eye of Madame Dolores, who stood a few paces away, hands on her hips and a stern look on her face.
“Now, don’t you three wander off too far,” she called out, eyeing them with her usual mix of affection and caution. “The forest is no place for little wolves to be getting lost.”
“Okay, Madame Dolores!” Jasper replied, giving her a quick wave before turning to his sisters with a grin. “You heard her. We have to stay close.”
