Chapter 9 Because of someone

Chapter 9 Because of someone

Daniel looked at her and spoke very slowly. "Because of someone."

"Because of someone? Who?"

There were some things on the tip of Daniel's tongue that he didn't say anything more. He smiled and changed the subject. "Forget about the past," he said. "Talk about the present. Bella, how have you been these years? Do you have a boyfriend now?"

It sounded normal, like a casual conversation between friends.

Bella shrugged. "Good," she said. “Boyfriend? I'm too busy to think about it."

Otherwise, she wouldn't have been forced by her mother to go on so many blind dates.

"Well, so do I. I’m too busy to have a girlfriend, not to say secretly married someone."

"What?" Bella had no idea what Daniel was saying. She didn't think that makes any sense.

Daniel didn't care. He was just answering what she said at the cafe yesterday.

Daniel stood up and picked Bella up from the fog.

"Come on, I haven't seen you in years. Let's have dinner and talk about the old days."

"But I'm not off duty yet..."

He paused, looked back with a sly smile, and whispered, "it's okay. I'll tell your general manager we're talking about work here."

And without waiting for an answer, he dragged Bella out of the room.

When Bella made up her mind, she's in Daniel's car. He slammed the door behind him and drove the Rolls-Royce car out of the company parking lot.

Now that they're in the car, Bella couldn't jump out. So she gave a secret sigh and asked, "Then where are we going now, Mr. Brook?"

"I told you not to call me Mr. Brook. It's too much of a stranger."

“All right.” Bella changed her tune. "Daniel, where are we going now?"

"Since we said it was business, we have to put on a show. Let's go to the L Hotel."

"......" Bella had nothing to say, so she looked away to see the landscape passing quickly out the window.

Seeing Daniel after five years, she felt strangely. Her instinct was that when the job was over, she should stay away from him.

She was looking out the window, so she didn't notice Daniel staring at her out of the corner of his eye, and gradually his eyes became softer.

The car pulled up at L Hotel.

L International Hotel, with more than 1,000 chain hotels in China, belongs to Group Brook.

Daniel led Bella in.

They went to the restaurant first. They sat down and Daniel told the waiter a few dishes without even looking at the menu.

After the waiter left, Bella smiled and said, "Daniel, you look so familiar here. Do you come here often?"

As the president of a successful business, she didn't think Daniel would have time to recite the menu of his own hotel. So let's just say he must come by a lot.

He chuckled and said, "Well, yes, because I'm staying in the presidential suite at this hotel."

"Huh? You live here? Aren't you going home?"

"It's close to Group Brook, and I tend to stay here when I leave work too late."

"Oh, I see." Bella really hasn't paid attention to Group Brook in years, so she didn't know it is close to Group Brook.

"Oh, yes, to tell you the good news. In the month you live here, your room is opposite mine."

"Cough, cough..."

Bella was holding a glass of water and taking a sip. When she heard Daniel's words, she choked, covered her mouth and coughed until her face turned red.

Finally, Daniel stood up, walked over and gave her a pat on the back, and she recovered.

"Daniel, you were joking, weren't you?"

Daniel picked out a pair of delicate eyebrows, curled the corners of his lips, and said, "What do you think? Bella, you know I don't like jokes."

All day long, Bella’s mind echoed the words in her head that her room would be opposite Daniel’s!

Throughout the day, Daniel showed her around every part of L Hotel, including the entertainment and leisure areas, such as the garden at the back, the swimming pool and so on.

But all day long, all she could think was, she lives across from Daniel!

It wasn't until dinner that Daniel took Bella home.

Bella must have been so overwhelmed with the news today that she would have been surprised if Daniel had dropped her off at home without even asking her where she lived.

When they got out of the car, it was dark outside.

Bella bent over to smile at Daniel in the car and said, "Thank you very much for today. Just go home and be careful."

He sat in the car and nodded his head and said, "Well, you go up first. I'll watch you go up and then I'll go."

Bella smiled and said no thanks several times, but he persisted. She had no choice but to lift her feet upstairs.

But when she had gone a few steps, her mind suddenly recalled everything that had happened on the stairs the night before.

The thought of the kiss in the dark immediately frightened her again.

After a moment's hesitation, she gritted her teeth and turned back toward Daniel. "Daniel, why don't you come up and have a cup of tea before you go?" she said.

Daniel looked at her and without hesitation said, "Ok."

Bella breathed a sigh of relief. After what had happened last night, the stairs of the building were already in her mind.

On the second floor turntable, Daniel felt Bella pick up her pace. He looked, quietly curling the corners of his mouth.

This is the very place where he kissed her yesterday.

Opening the door, Bella went in, fumbled for the light, and rushed to Daniel at the door and said, "Daniel, please come in."

Daniel's eyes rested on the faint bite mark on her white neck, and a little emotion crept into his eyes. He went in.

Bella closed the door as he entered. But when she turned around, Daniel shoved her right against the door, his hands around her cheeks, holding her tightly to his chest.

Bella looked at him with surprise on her face and stammered, "Daniel, you..."

"Bella, don't you know what it means to invite a man over for a tea?" he croaked.

Meaning? He mumbled it a little bit. It sounded ambiguous.

Bella's eyes widened, she swallowed, and she said nervously, "Daniel, don't get me wrong! I really just wanted to invite you up for a cup of tea!"

He laughed more wickedly than ever. "Really? But I don't think so..."

As he spoke, his handsome face, magnified several times, drew closer and closer to her. Bella could feel his strong masculine scent on her face.

She closed her eyes in fear, her hands at her sides clenched in tension.
