Chapter 3 Back In Public

Chapter 3 Back In Public

Unknown POV;

"Sweetheart, I know the perfect girl for you. "My mother says the moment I walk into her room, and I clench my jaw in annoyance. I just knew this was what she was up to the moment she called for me.

"The funny thing is that this one has been right in front of us the entire time, but we never thought of her. "She continues as she turns to me with a big smile, and I just stare at her with a straight, uninterested face.

"Oh, sweetie. Don't be so grumpy. I promise you'll like this one. You know her too. I'm talking about Karen. Amber's best friend... She's a cute little girl don't you think? "She continues, and my eyes widen in alarm.

"What? Amber's best... You're trying to matchmake me with my younger sister's best friend? "I question, and she chuckles lightly.

"Oh, don't be so dramatic, honey. You both are a beautiful match. Splendid if you ask me. And she has everything one could want. She's one of the top fighters in the pack's junior army. She is the best female fighter in the entire pack. She is beautiful, strong, and just as graceful. And she's the daughter of the Beta. Come on, honey. It's a perfect match. "My mom continues. Listing all the things she likes about Karen, and this only irritates me.

"Mom, just stop it, will you? For Star's sake, I'm not an imbecile. I don't need help finding a Shewolf for myself. When I find the girl I am looking for, I will bring her home. Just... Stop doing this... Stop playing matchmaker in my life. I don't like it.

And I don't want to hear anything about Karen again. Please. "I reply honestly while trying to keep my temper in check, and my mom walks up to me. Caressing my cheek with one hand as she stares at me in silence for a while, and I see pure concern for me in her silver eyes. Eyes she passed down me with.

"Honey, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. It's not your fault that Emma died... Yes, she was your mate and you needed to protect her, but you couldn't be at all places at once. I can't imagine the pain you went through when she died, but you need to understand that it wasn't your fault... "My mom says softly, and I inhale deeply and gently take her hand away from my face.

I don't like talking about Emma’s death. I have never liked it. It's a topic that leaves a very sour taste in my mouth and a very heavy feeling in my chest. A topic that makes me feel like a failure. The biggest one there is.

"Mom, I will find myself a woman who's right for me. And when I find her, I'll bring her home. To you and Dad. She will be mine, and this time, I will protect her with my entire life. "I reply matter of factly, and my mother stares into my eyes. I can see the hurt in her eyes, and I don't like it, but there's not much I can do.

"I just don't want you to die lonely, dear. That's a very painful death to die. "My mother says as a tear finally escapes her eyes, and I quickly wipe it off before kissing her forehead.

"And I promise you that I won't, Mother... "I reply honestly before pulling her into a hug, and I look down at the ring in my hand. I smile at the little thing which can only make its way down my pinky finger.

She left behind her ring, and took my shirt, shorts, and horse. I need to find her. Wherever she is. I won't know peace until I get to see her again. To see her, and bring her back home with me. Hopefully, she'd agree. I've never met anyone like her. Daring and sensitive. A beautiful butterfly.

A pack of surprises that I so desperately want to uncover. I don't mind spending my whole life discovering new things about her, every single day.

Her pretty green eyes and perfect smile keep harassing my memory and makes my search for her more frantic.

Why did she leave before I woke up? Where did she go? Where do I find her?

Crystal. I only know her name. What pack does she belong to?

I need to find her. I have so many questions about the angel I encountered last night. So many... And I won't be at rest until I get answers.

***************

Crystal's POV;

The weekend was long and boring. I barely left my room, and Eleanor kept trying to apologize. It will be unfair to blame her as if she’s the reason Sebastian chose to be a fucking bastard, so I've been working on trying to forgive her.

I'm standing in front of my mirror in a pair of light blue jeans and a dark blue, massive hoodie. I look miserable and like hell. But my appearance doesn't do justice to how shitty I truly feel. I feel like the world is out to get me, and no amount of tears or rage that I have let out in the past three days has helped me feel better.

I skipped school yesterday, but Eleanor got a call from my class teacher yesterday evening. Asking her to make sure I am in school today, as I have a promotional exam scheduled for today.

I'd give anything not to go to school today, but I know better than to miss this exam. I have read and prepared too hard for it. Skipping it and having to repeat a class alongside all the drama currently in my life, is a horrific path I don't want to have to go through.

I sigh as I turn to face my door. Deciding to step out of my room for the first time after three long days, and I feel Sofia squirm inside me.

-Do we really have to go... -

She whines, and I roll my eyes.

"If we don’t want to fail? Yes. "I say to her, and she buffs.

My eyes land on the stranger's clothes from four nights ago on a chair in my room, and I roll my eyes and look away. I still can not remember what happened three nights ago, and honestly, I'mto scared to try and remember.

I quietly make it out of my room, and down the stairs like a lifeless zombie, when I see Eleanor in the kitchen.

"I... Erm... Made a sandwich for you. And... And some orange juice. "She says as she holds out a paper bag to me, and I stare at it for a while before taking it.

"Thank you. "I simply reply, and as I turn to the door, she calls my name.

"Crystal... I... I spoke to your class teacher. You can come home immediately after your paper. "She says, and I force a smile up my face.

"Thank you, Ellie. "I reply, and she holds my hand to stop me from leaving.

"I hate seeing you like this... I hate seeing you so sad. And knowing that this wouldn't have happened if I didn't force you to go, makes the guilt more choking. I never meant for this to happen, Crystal. I'm so sorry. In... In any way you need my support, I'd be there. I'd... I'd... I swear I'd never blindly go against your wishes again. "She says, and on hearing the hurt in her voice, I shut my eyes as it breaks my heart. I don't want to see her sad.

I pull her into a hug, and I whisper to her while fighting tears.

"It's okay, Ellie. It's not your fault that we belong to such a small-minded pack... And have a dick as our crowned prince. "I reply, and she stays silent.

"I need to go now. "I inform her as I break the hug and proceed towards the front door, and she wishes me good luck.

I sure do need all the luck I can get. Cause I'm stepping into this pack for the first time since my rejection. I hope I have the strength for it.
