Chapter Seventy-eight
I woke up feeling more exhausted than I had the night before. Sleep had eluded me, and the few times I had managed to drift off, my mind had been filled with restless dreams. With a groan, I rolled out of bed and rushed to the window, a flicker of hope igniting in my chest. Maybe, just maybe, the pack warriors would be gone, or at the very least, asleep.
But as I peered outside, my heart sank. The warriors were still there, vigilant and alert, their presence a stark reminder of the prison my home had become. I closed my eyes, swallowing the bitter taste of disappointment....
