I woke up with a start, my heart pounding as I stared up at the ceiling. For a moment, I couldn’t figure out where I was or what was happening. Everything felt disjointed, like I had been ripped out of one reality and dropped into another. The lingering fog of sleep clung to my mind, slowing down my thoughts. Then, like a wave crashing over me, it all came rushing back—the pack warriors, the house arrest, the looming mating ceremony.
