I turn slowly, the click of my heels on the polished floor unnaturally loud in the quiet corridor. He’s standing a few feet away, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. He looks like he absolutely expected me to pull this move. Of course. He knew. He walks towards me in a slow, controlled manner and I let out a sigh.
