Diane's POV

I slip out of bed, the cool floorboards a shock against my bare feet as I walk towards the bathroom. The bathroom door is slightly ajar, a sliver of light cutting through the darkness. I push it open without hesitation.

"Diane." He's standing by the sink, phone in hand, his reflection in the mirror looking like a stranger. He looks startled, caught.

"What's happening with Liam?" My voice is sharper than I intended, stripped of all softness.

He sighs and the pretense crumbles. Obviously, he planned on sneaking out without me knowing. And if he really thought he was going to be successful, then he doesn't know me...
