The heavy silence in the hospital room was completely deafening after Liam rushed out to lock down the floor. 

“I will be right outside the door, flower,” Brian murmured, his voice dropping into a deep, raw pitch as he tried to touch my hair.

“Don't touch me,” I hissed flatly, pulling away completely.
