Daisy's POV.
My heart started beating loudly in my chest and I couldn't control it.
For a second, I thought that he would be able to hear it.
But why was I letting this happen? Had I forgotten everything he put me through?
I couldn't let his seductive smirk and coy words to get to me. I had to stand my ground.
"You are being absurd," I finally spoke and tried pushing him away from me.
He felt like a rock, and I realized that I was touching his chest. I just made everything worse.
"Brian, get away from me!" I raised my voice.
I saw this strange sadness flash through his eyes before he stood straight.
I quickly got up from the couch and started walking away.
"Daisy," He called.
I didn't want to stop, but my silly legs stopped on their own.
"I didn't mean to hover over you like that. It won't happen again," He said.
Why did that sound like an apology? When did Brian start apologizing for anything he had done?
"I...am glad that you have realized your mistake," I huffed and left from there.
I returned to my room and slammed the door shut. I leaned against the door and took a deep breath.
I took my hand to my chest and tried to calm myself.
Why in hell was my heart beating like that? Why did I let things get to that point?
"Ugh, this is so annoying," I frowned and cupped my face.
"Why does my face feel so hot?" I asked myself.
I walked over to the mirror, and my eyes widened in shock when I saw my cheeks. They were as red as a tomato.
"Why are they so red?" I gasped.
'It just did' Brian's words suddenly came back to my mind.
"No!" I shook my head.
"Please don't tell me that my face was this red when he said that," I uttered in horror.
Dammit! Why would I blush in front of him? I just gave him the wrong idea.
"I don't want him to think that he has any influence over me. I have to be more stern and avoid being in the same space with him for too long," I said seriously.
I sighed and walked away from the mirror. I went to the bed and pushed away a few things before sitting.
"Why did he get these things in my name?" I questioned, picking up the necklace's box. "Was he telling the truth or trying to fool me?"
I took one of the dresses on the bed, and when I checked the tag, it had my name on it.
"He really purchased them in my name..." I trailed off and looked through other things. "But why would he get these things in my name then give it to her? It makes no sense!"
I wondered what he was trying to achieve. Was he trying to be nice or what?
I didn't even understand him anymore. He didn't use to get so close or even try touching me like that.
I remembered how he touched my lips and instinctively touched my lips as well.
"Why is he suddenly acting like this? Is he feeling guilty about the pregnancy?" I wondered aloud.
Tsk! I should stop thinking of him!
I had already lost the baby, and there was nothing he could do to change that. It was already too late to make amends.
I had to seal my heart completely from him, he wasn't worth my affection or any tear that I had shed.
"Yeah, I have to set my minds on other things," I muttered and grabbed my phone.
I hadn't really been online since I left this house. I was scared of seeing Brian's happy face with Selena, but I guess that wasn't possible anymore.
"I should search for a nice movie since I'm not going to work today," I grinned, scrolling through my phone.
I searched for something interesting to watch and finally found a good movie.
When I was done watching it, I decided to have some rest.
I laid on the bed and closed my eyes. I slept longer than I expected, because when I woke up, it was already 6pm in the evening.
"How did I sleep this long?" I exclaimed, looking at the time on my phone.
"Jeez, I didn't expect to sleep like this, but it was quite enjoyable," I smiled, stretching my body.
"I should go to kitchen to make something for myself. I am hungry."
I left my room and went to the kitchen. I met Brian cooking vigorously in there.
"Good evening, Daisy, I'm almost done with dinner," He uttered, surprising me.
"Dinner? Are you preparing dinner for both of us?"
"Yes, I am," He nodded.
I couldn't believe my ears. I never imagined that Brian would cook for me one day. But I had already promised myself not to be swayed by his antics. So, to hell with this!
"You shouldn't have bothered, because I am not going to eat any of this," I refused.
"Why?"
"Why? what do you mean by why?" I snapped. "I thought that you only cooked for Selena, I didn't think I was meant to eat this!"
"Daisy, it's not like—"
"I have heard enough. I will come back to the kitchen when you are done," I cut him off and walked out of there.
As I returned to my room, I wondered whether I was too harsh with him.
"I wasn't harsh at all. He has done worse to me and didn't see a problem with it," I scoffed.
I was about to enter my room when my phone suddenly rang. I looked at the screen, and an unknown number was displayed on it.
I reluctantly answered it,"Hello? Who is this?"
"Daisy, you think you've won, huh?" A female voice raged on the other end.
"Selena," I smirked.
"You can never take Brian away from me. He belongs to me and I will make sure he remains mine even if I have to kill you."
