DAISY
The bright surgical lights were fading away as I slowly blinked my eyes open. My mouth felt completely dry like sand, and my entire body was numb.
The door clicked open, and the lead doctor walked in. He wasn't rushing anymore. He looked down at his clipboard, his face looking completely pale and somber. Two nurses walked in right behind him, and they couldn't even look me in the eye.
“Daisy...” the doctor said softly, stepping right up to the side of my bed. “I am so sorry. We did everything we could in the theatre, but the hemorrhage was too severe. You lost the baby.”
