“Wait, what do you mean?” Merlin asked, his voice low staring at me, I couldn’t stare back at him seeing how hurt he was.

 

For a few seconds, I was mute before speaking up, “He’s my husband! We are lawfully married and Selena is just a diverter, so the media attention wouldn’t be on me.”

 

I pressed my lips against each other as soon as I finished speaking, even though half was a lie, but it was true Brian was once my husband… he’s still my husband. Merlin stared quietly, not a sound found its way out of his lips, keeping me uneasy.
