The sheets were tangled around my legs, the heavy warmth of the blankets a stark contrast to the chill of the morning air leaking through the window. Beside me, Brian’s chest rose and fell in a slow, deep rhythm. One of his heavy arms was draped over my waist, pinning me to the mattress.
"You're awake," he muttered, his voice rough and low with sleep.
"I'm thinking," I whispered, turning my head to look at him.
