Lying in his bed that night, August stared up at the ceiling, wondering what it was going to take for him to figure out a way to talk to Mercy to keep her from freaking out every time he opened his mouth. He felt so terrible for upsetting her like that. But… this time he’d had no idea that just the question of whether or not she’d want to move in with him and his mom would make her react that way.
