The air probably stood still for a minute.
"Cecilia," he leaned back, "do you know what you're saying?"
"I do."
The silence resumed.
Edward pinched the bridge of his nose, his tone exasperated. "Maybe I was out of line just now, but you knew about Angelina and me before we got married. Are you really going to separate over this?"
I bit my lip, not speaking. It just felt like he was missing the point.
"If I really couldn't let her go, wanted to rekindle things with her, and if I just wanted a backup, I wouldn't have married you. We've been together for seven years, you know me."
