Chapter 1

Chapter 1

After sending the last guest off, I rushed to the restroom and threw up.

My assistant Wendy quickly patted my back, waiting until I felt better before helping me into the car.

“Alicia, why do you push yourself so hard? It’s not like the company doesn’t have any men,” Wendy said, looking at me with concern.

I gave a bitter smile. “But none of them are at the right level.”

Today's client was a powerful publicly listed company. If I could secure their contract, the company wouldn’t have to worry about its performance for the next three years.

I learned that they had a taste for craft whiskey, so I went out of my way to get a high-quality bottle from a renowned local distillery. I hadn't expected them to bring a whole team. It's all or nothing, so I had no choice.

After more than three hours of dinner and drinks, I managed to outdrink their entire team and secure the letter of intent.

Looking at the document, I managed to overlook the burning sensation in my stomach, which seemed to subside.

Wendy was still venting her frustration on my behalf.

“Does Mr. Hart know how hard you work?”

Thinking of Jayden, I smiled softly. “This is my wedding gift for him. It’s a secret for now.”

“You and Mr. Hart are getting married next month. Why doesn’t he care that you’re still out this late?”

Wendy’s words reminded me that new furniture was supposed to arrive at the new house today. Jayden had said he’d be there to oversee it. I wondered how it was going.

I called Jayden. No one answered.

"Wendy, take me to One Kenmare Square."

I told Wendy to take the morning off tomorrow before I entered the building.

The code to the new apartment was set to my birthday by Jayden.

Thinking about next month’s wedding, I couldn’t help but smile.

As I opened the door, strange noises drifted out from inside.

I noticed high heels at the entryway, and a man's suit and a woman's dress were tangled on the floor.

From the direction of the bedroom came heavy breathing and moans.

Dizzy, I leaned against the wall and slowly made my way inside.

The master bedroom door was ajar, and on the mattress, still wrapped in plastic, a man was on top of a woman. The man was Jayden Hart, my fiancé.

My stomach churned, and I threw up again.
