Nelson misunderstood, “Gone? Good, good. Let her go then. It seems she wasn’t very ill after all, still had time to make trouble before she gone.”
With that, Nelson hung up the phone and sneered coldly.
Jasmine opened the door and looked at Nelson, her tone gentle, “Nelson, what’s wrong? Why are you upset?”
Nelson put down the phone with an unfriendly tone, “Raegan dared to play the runaway game with me, leaving the hospital directly.”
“She probably thought I’d go to comfort her and beg her. What a dream. If she dies outside, I won’t care.”
Jasmine’s face showed an unclear expression as she placed a hand on Nelson’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry, Nelson. It’s all my sister-in-law’s fault that you’re upset. I’ll apologize to her once my exams are over.”
Nelson comforted Jasmine, “It’s not your fault. You don’t need to apologize to her. If only she were as considerate as you, she wouldn’t be so detestable.”
Jasmine said nothing, quietly leaning on Nelson.
I stood nearby, watching silently and scoffing.
Anyone who didn’t know would think they were a loving couple.
I was increasingly curious about Nelson’s reaction when he learned I was truly dead.
Would he be saddened by our years of marriage, or would he continue to frown with disgust?
That evening, Nelson spent the night with Jasmine and went to work the next day.
At the office, everyone looked at Nelson, and the finance director even expressed condolences.
Nelson was startled, “What do you mean?”
The finance director said, “I heard from your assistant about your wife’s situation. Death is irreversible; please accept my condolences.”
Nelson slammed the documents down, “Condolences? She’s fine. She still has time to make trouble.”
The finance director was puzzled, “So I misunderstood? I thought your wife…”
Nelson sneered, “Don’t worry. Whoever dies, she won’t die. That woman is tough.”
After the finance director left, Nelson was alone in the office, growing increasingly angry.
Suddenly, he picked up his phone and called someone, “Find Raegan for me.”
“Yes, this woman has disappeared. Find her and bring her back. I want a divorce.”
After hanging up, Nelson contacted a lawyer, “Draft a divorce agreement for me. I want Raegan to leave with nothing.”
I looked at his eyes devoid of any love and felt desolate inside.
The years of love we once had seemed to have been nothing but his pretense.
His eyes showed no genuine emotion when he spoke of divorce.
But now, his actions no longer concern me. I just want to escape him and avoid enduring this torment even after death.
Unfortunately, an unknown force kept me bound to him, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t escape.
That night, after leaving the company, Nelson went out to dinner with Jasmine. Even more absurdly, he took her to the place where we had our first date.
Nelson showed no sign of any disturbance, telling Jasmine, “This restaurant has a great taste. Try it out.”
Just then, someone burst out of another private room in the restaurant, “Nelson, are you even human? Raegan is still hospitalized, and you’re out dining with this mistress. Have you lost all sense of decency?”
