Nelson immediately reacted, frowning tightly, “Tell Raegan that if she continues to use these disgusting tactics, I won’t let her off the hook.”
After saying this, Nelson hung up the phone with a look of slight anger. “Jasmine, you shouldn’t have apologized to Raegan. That woman will just take advantage of it and push her luck.
She’s so selfish, not letting me accompany you during your important exams.”
I stood behind Nelson, unable to suppress a cold laugh.
It turns out that my major surgery was nothing compared to Jasmine’s exams.
I had foolishly held out hope that maybe Nelson would come around, but it seems I was just deluding myself.
But it doesn’t matter now; I’m already dead on the operating table.
I’m just curious about how Nelson would react when he finds out I’m dead.
After dropping Jasmine off at her place, Nelson didn’t go to the hospital but returned home.
Webb, Nelson’s driver, kindly asked about the surgery.
Nelson snorted, “Raegan is becoming increasingly unreasonable. If she still has the energy to cause trouble, then it must not be serious. I’ll go sign the papers in a few days; she won’t die from waiting.”
Webb tried to persuade him, but Nelson turned cold and glared at him. “Why do you care so much about Raegan? Are you having an affair with her? This wretched woman can’t even be calm while hospitalized.”
Webb hurriedly explained, “Boss, you’re mistaken. I’m not involved with her.”
Nelson, with reddened eyes, pointed at Webb, “Get out of here. When Raegan is discharged, I want to know when your affair with her started.”
Webb left the car, and I sat in the back seat, watching Nelson gasp for breath. He now seemed like a rabid dog, snapping at anyone in sight.
After a while, Nelson got out of the car and went to his study, calling his secretary. “Get someone to stop Raegan’s medication at the hospital. Let her be quiet and stop causing trouble every day.”
Nelson sneered, “Don’t worry, Raegan won’t die. I still see she has time to put on a show for me today.”
I felt nauseated inside, realizing that my partner had always distrusted me.
After hanging up, heavy rain suddenly poured outside, accompanied by thunder.
Nelson frowned and quickly went downstairs, got into his car, and drove off into the rain.
I followed him, only to find he had gone to Jasmine’s house.
He anxiously knocked on the door, “Jasmine, are you okay? You’re afraid of thunder.”
I couldn’t help but scoff. He had just stopped my medication, and now he was frantic because his first love was scared of thunder.
After a long time, Jasmine finally opened the door, her lips pale, “Nelson, I’m scared.”
Nelson’s eyes immediately filled with tenderness, and he rushed to hold her, “I’m sorry, Jasmine. I shouldn’t have left you alone.”
He took her into the bedroom and comforted her until she finally fell asleep. Then his assistant called, sounding anxious, “Boss, your wife…”
Hearing my name, Nelson’s face immediately turned cold, his tone no longer gentle.
The speed at which his mood changed was surprising even to me, someone who had been married to him for three years.
“What’s the matter? Did you do what I asked you to do?”
“Yes, but… your wife has gone. There’s no time to do anything now.”
