After they ate lunch, they headed out of the restaurant and toward the rental desk to rent skis. Kira had never felt so free in her life. Seeing Xavier again had awakened a part of her that had lain dormant this whole time and she never realized it.

Xavier walked up to the man standing behind the desk. “We'd like to rent two pairs of skis and gear, please.” Then he looked over at Kira and raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure you don't want to go snowboarding instead?”

Kira chuckled. “Not just yet. Let me get my “snow legs first. It's been a while since I've even gone skiing......
