As Xavier walked Kira out to her car, something she had said came to mind. He opened her door first, and then slid into his seat and started the car, and then waited for the engine to warm up.

“Kira, may I ask you something?”

She nodded. “I think you know everything now, but sure. Go ahead.”

He let out a deep breath, looking out the window, and then back into her eyes. “In the restaurant, you said that you never wanted to come back to Christmas Cove. But now that you're back, it's as if you never left, right?”

She nodded. “Yes.”
