Chapter one: Jane meets Michael.
“It’s enough, you can’t keep on drinking. I’m taking you home.” Says Michael.
“What home? I don’t have a home, this is my home” Jane replied in distress.
Michael grabbed Jane and bundled her out of the bar, it was past 2am. He carried her into his car and drove off to his own apartment. In forty minutes, they got to his house. He laid her on the bed and covered her up properly while he slept on the couch.
At about past 10am, Jane woke up. She was surprised to see herself in an unknown house, she peeped to see who was lying on the couch and saw an unknown face. She checked and realised that she had been changed into a pyjamas. She shouted
“Haaaa!!!”
Michael woke up in fear. “What’s wrong?” he asked
“First of all who are you? Secondly, where am I?, Thirdly, how did I get into this dress? Jane asked in fear, trembling as she was about running out of the house.
Jane was scared and she thought she's been kidnapped.
“Relax, I’m not a bad person, I am your friend and your shadow” Michael answered.
“That doesn’t answer my questions, start speaking or I will shout and call for help in your neighbourhood” Jane said moving towards the window as if about to shout for real.
Okay then, Michael introduced himself as a dry cleaner and narrated that he met her in the club last night drunk, she was so drunk that when she asked for address to her house, she answered saying she has no home. So he thought it will be nice to bring her to his own apartment.
She wasnt fully convinced,
“oh ok , so how did I get into this pyjamas, did we have any thing together, did we do it?” Jane asked as she could not remember anything that happened last night.
Michael felt embarrassed and he was quite furious. He expected gratitude instead of interrogations.
“I got you into the pyjamas and that’s all” Michael replied
Jane refused to believe him, it was written all over her face. She kept peeping into her dress, touching her body as if waiting to see an envidence.
“Are you so daft that you don’t know when you have sex with someone? Go into the toilet and check if there’s any sign that we had sex.” Michael said in anger.
Jane immediately apologised for her rash questions. She explained that she was only scared because men just love to take advantage of helpless women like her and thought Michael was one of them.
“I won’t dare, I’m not a molester, when I have sex, I have good hot sex which means the lady must be conscious to give me all her skills” he said smiling.
Jane then appreciated Michael for bringing her to his house, she felt really relaxed with him and was glad it was him that rescued her from herself”.
“I have my own questions to ask too. Firstly, why did you say you don’t have a home? Secondly, why were you drunk? Michael asked.
She explained that she really doesn't have a home. Not because her parents are not alive, they are alive but they stay in Awka while she livesalone in Port Harcourt. But she doesn't see where she lives as a home because no one loves her, everyone takes advantage of her.
Jane felt suddenly bite in her tommy. It was a sign of hunger
" I’m famished” she said
“Oh my bad, let me quickly make you something to eat while you go back in bed and relax”
Michael said and immediately dashed into the kitchen.
It was the first time someone was this nice to Jane, she turned on the television and picked up the remote control and quietly went back to lie on the bed, smiling and quite happy. She changed to various channels but couldn’t find any suitable one because they were different from what she was used to.
She selected a music channel and picked up her phone to browse. In a short while, less than thirty minutes, food was ready. Michael served Jane with bread, tea and fried egg. His service was so neat, well packaged and welcoming.
“Thank you Mr Chef” Jane said as she collected the food and started eating.
She looked up and saw that Michael wasn’t eating and wasn’t looking like he wanted to. So she asked Michael for his own food by Michael said he had eaten his own in the kitchen inorder for Jane to feel comfortable and eat. Michael said that and walked out to the balcony to excuse Jane.
Jane ate the food. It was very tasty and she enjoyed it. When she was through, she went straight to the kitchen and washed all the used plates. When Michael returned, he was surprised to see Jane in the kitchen doing cleaning. He expected that Jane will be rude and spoilt. He quietly went to sit on the couch and waited for her to return. When Jane returned, he asked the same question again.
“Now that you are no longer hungry and tired, can you tell me why you were drunk last night?” Michael questioned Jane
“I am tired of being used and dumped. No one loves me of course aside my parents.” That was Jane response.
Her response surprised Michael, a beautiful breath taking lady complaining of not being loved instead of complianing of overflow of love and attention, Michael couldn’t imagine.
She continued by saying, everyone sees her and exclaimed she is beautiful and very sexy thereby expecting her to show them her sexiness in bed.
“I won’t be surprised if men should think that way because seriously, as I got you into the pyjamas, you were damn tempting, too beautiful, I bet any man aside me will find it difficult to resist you” Michael concurred.
“What do you mean by except me? Aren’t you a man, didn’t you say I am tempting? You men are all the same”
Michael made it clear to Jane that yes, she is tempting, very sexy but he didn’t take advantage of her. And that was why he said except him because he will never behave like a monster just to have a lady in bed and he believes that there are still decent men who have same thoughts.
Jane smiled.
“If men are bad, what about your fellow female friends? Don’t they love you too?” Michael asked.
Jane’s mood suddenly turned bitter.
That’s her greatest pain. Michael have really touched the most painful part of her life.
Yes, she does have ladies consider friends but they do not consider her as friend on return.
Michael wondered if she was bad towards them and then mutter the courage t ask her.
“Were you horrible to them?” asked Michael.
“Of course not. Aren’t you going to work?” Jane asked.
Jane realised that had talked too much. He is a total stranger and shouldn't know much about her. She quickly ended the conversation.
“I am. I will quickly take a shower and leave. What about you?”
She replied that she has things lined up for her to do for the day and would appreciate if Michael can drop her off at the bus stop while she takes a cab to her house.
"Thank you for your hospitality”
“I will be back shortly” Michael said to Jane and left the house.
“
