The day my boyfriend Bradley Stokes returned from abroad, he came to pick me up from work.
By chance, he ran into my sister Alyssa, who had come to my office demanding money.
At that moment, my colleagues couldn't help but express their admiration.
"Lyn, you're so lucky! Your boyfriend's so young and already owns a foreign company, worth billions!"
"Exactly, and Bradley loves her so much—he’s a once-in-a-lifetime catch."
As soon as these words reached my sister Alyssa in the distance, I saw her face twist. her eyes fixed on me, filled with intertwined resentment and hatred.
Before I could react, a sharp pain shot through my wrist.
Bradley was gripping it tightly, yet he kept a gentle smile as he said,
"I have some business to attend to at the company. I'll wait for you at home."
Though he was smiling, his eyes were full of displeasure at my distraction.
I immediately leaned in to kiss his cheek, trying to soothe him.
"Don't worry, darling. I'll be off work soon."
As soon as Bradley left, Alyssa stormed over, slapping me hard across the face.
"You go to college on our parents' dime, and this is how you repay them? Fooling around with men?"
Suddenly, everyone's eyes in the company were focused on us.
The same colleague who had praised Bradley and me quickly jumped to my defense.
"You misunderstand, that was Lyn’s boyfriend."
Of course, Alyssa knew he was my boyfriend.
She was just jealous, refusing to acknowledge that I was better than her, that I had a better life.
She let out a cold laugh, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she said,
"Someone like you could land a boyfriend like that? You sure you’re not being played?"
The moment she said this, my colleague became indignant, ready to argue on my behalf.
But I raised my hand slightly, stopping her.
I looked at Alyssa calmly, a faint smile playing on my lips as I said,
"Sis, are you interested in him too? Thinking about stealing my boyfriend?"
Alyssa’s face turned red with fury at being so bluntly exposed.
She raised her hand to strike me again, but I easily dodged her.
All she could do was glare at me with resentment.
"Yes, so what? You've never been better than me. Why should you get all the good men? It’s not fair!"
Her answer didn't surprise me at all.
Alyssa had always been blindly confident, convinced that she was superior to me, and unable to stand seeing me with anything she wanted.
In the past, I would argue, even though we were twins, our parents always favored her.
They’d constantly scold me,
"She’s your older sister; it’s only right she takes your things. Isn’t that what sisters are for, to support each other?"
But now, I just smiled faintly, not bothering to argue anymore.
"Is that so? Well, if you want him, go ahead and try."
I knew Alyssa couldn’t resist a provocation.
She’d definitely take action after hearing what I said.
And I was curious to see how she’d react when this so-called "once-in-a-lifetime
good man" of hers showed his true colors.
