The Quiet Before

POV: Sofia

It had been four days since the park, and everything looks normal again. We are back to our normal daily routine, although somewhere in our minds, we know she’s out there, planning. The restraining order had come through the following morning, as Dr. Pearl had anticipated. She had not made contact since the park. No burner texts, no unknown number calls, no appearances at gates or building lobbies or any of the other locations she had inserted herself into over the preceding months. Four days of complete silence, which should have felt like breathing room and instead felt like the silence before a sentence.
