I stared at the spilled coffee spreading across the table, my mind racing faster than I could think, I hadn't expected her to remember, had hoped maybe she'd forget or let it go, but here she was asking about the basement like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"The basement, right, sure," I grabbed more napkins, buying time, "let me just finish cleaning this up first."
