My good mood started to crack.

I called Mabel instead, trying to push the strange call out of my mind.

"Hey!" she answered immediately. "I was just about to text you. How are you?"

"Good. Great, actually. Evans wants to renew our vows. He's going to do it publicly, and he said it's a promise that he wants to make this marriage real. Can you believe it?"
