I couldn't sit still.
I paced back and forth across the living room, my feet was wearing a path in the expensive carpet, every few seconds I checked my phone for the time, then checked it again like the numbers would somehow change if I looked fast enough.
Evans should have been home hours ago.
The board meeting was supposed to start at eight, it was now past midnight and I hadn't heard a single word from him, I'd called six times, each call going straight to voicemail.
