CHAPTER FOUR
ANGELA
I didn't mind that Blake ignored me, I didn't mind the way he sounded one bit, for I was a mere servant and I was deserving of whatever way he treated me. I was only his property, I didn't have the right to choose anything, rather he had the right to choose and decide everything for me.
The guard led me to the guest room and helped me clean it up, with the assistance of other maids in the mansion. I stood in a corner of the room watching them as they tidied the whole place.
My heart didn't stop racing, I stood there trying to figure out what was going to happen next... I was still in deep thought when a young female voice jerked me off my thought.
"Wow, she's pretty. you must be Angela", a young girl that had approached me without my knowledge said and I nodded sadly.
"I am Gabriela, Blake's younger sister", she said stretching her hands towards me and I took it nervously.
If I wasn't mistaken, I could remember the name Blake, it was the same arrogant man who had paid nine hundred million dollars for me. And had brought me here for what I had not the slightest clue about.
"This house has been so big and boring, I do not have anyone to play with and I don't usually go out, I hope we can be friends?" She asked beaming with a smile as a deep dimple formed on both sides of her cheek.
Gabriela is very beautiful I must confess, tall, thin, with brown curly hair, and very wide gap teeth at the corner of her lower teeth, her eyes were dazzling blue like that of her brother, and her smile would be enough to melt the strongest of hearts.
Gabriela raised an eyebrow at me and immediately I came to my senses, realizing I have been drooling over her beauty rather than giving a reply to her question.
"Sure, of course, we can be friends", I said quickly feeling a bit embarrassed.
She hugged me excitedly and her perfume filled my nose, it was a mixture of strawberry and raspberry, her hair smelt of rose flowers and chocolates and I felt like eating them up.
"Uhh, sorry about that, hope it didn't cause any trouble?" She asked as she disengaged from the hug and I shook my head twice.
"Your room is set ma'am, you can settle in", the guard informed me as he walked up to me.. my box was brought in by another guard and was placed on the floor close to the wardrobe.
The maids that had tidied the room left together with the guard that brought in my bag, while the last guard stood for a second for the final inspection. He turned around and was about to leave when I called him softly.
"Sir", I called not knowing what to address him as. "Can I have my cellphone please?" I said coldly and he nodded as if I had just reminded him of something very important.
He dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out my cell phone and handed it over to me, my excitement knew no bounds.
"Thank you", I said and he smiled, then nodded before leaving the room. Leaving I and Gabriela to enjoy our privacy.
"So.. do you have any stories or anything to share with me?" Gabriela asked excitedly and I shook my head. I walked ahead of her to the big bed in the room and sat on it as I unlocked my phone to dial my uncle's number.
I called him thrice, and his phone kept ringing and ringing yet there was no response, I kept calling but he didn't pick up. The next minute it wasn't reachable and I became frustrated. Tears had welled up in my eyes, and I tried to control them, Gabriela was staring at me continuously without blinking and I didn't want to cry in front of her.
I didn't want her to see me crying, I just didn't want to stir up any questions for her.
"Who are you calling?" She asked as she walked up to me and sat beside me.
"I am trying to contact my uncle", I replied weakly, I wasn't really in the mood for any kind of conversation. Especially, Gabriela, she is Blake's sister, plus she was too peachy clingy, and nosy.
"You can use my phone", she said as she dipped her hand in her pocket, brought out her phone, and stretched it toward me. "I don't like your face, it's not good at all", she said patting my shoulder and staring at me with so much pity in her eyes.
I took the phone from her reluctantly, my hands were shaking and I tried to steady them so I wouldn't drop the phone. I placed my phone on the bed beside me and tried to use her's when I realized it had a password.
"Unlock your phone... Please", I said and she took the phone from me immediately. She typed a few numbers which I didn't read, I didn't want to pry.
"Here you go!" She said and handed the phone back to me.
I took them from her, my hands were still shaking and I quickly copied my uncle's number from my phone and dialed them in hers.
The phone didn't ring for a long time before my uncle picked it up. I heard his selfish voice from the under end and felt like tearing him into shreds from the phone.
"Hello", his voice sounded in my ears like poison.
"Hello, it's me, Ang...."
He didn't hesitate to end the call on me, on hearing my voice and I felt a drop of tears escape my left eyes which I wiped immediately.
"I'm sorry about that", Gabriela said and I wondered what she was sorry about. The fact that her family buys people against their wishes and uses them for God knows what? Or the fact that she was the sister of a monster.
"For what exactly?" I asked in a calm tone.
"I don't know, life seems hard on you. I could tell that from your look and tone, I hope you find happiness here", she said and smiled again exposing her cute dimples.
I also forced a smile, I didn't know why but I had to.
"That smile looks so ugly", she said and smiled again.
"I'm sorry you don't like it", I replied and she chuckled lightly.
"I will just leave you to rest now, it's getting late so you can wake up early for the day's task. You may not know what awaits you", she said, winked at me, and walked away from the room.
I didn't think about her words immediately, I carried myself forcefully and lay in bed, my eyes were heavy, I wanted to sleep but how could I sleep so easily with a heavy heart?
I was in so much pain, I felt betrayed, I felt used, I felt foolish, and I felt all the pain and anger in the world altogether. I hated my uncle and cursed him and his family for what they had done to me.
I couldn't do anything to help myself, my plans of escaping didn't work, and I was sure with the tight security outside the house I still wouldn't be able to escape from there, I had to get myself ready for whatever it is that'd come my way.
"I will just leave you to rest now, it's getting late so you can wake up early for the day's task. You may not know what awaits you", Gabriela's words resounded in my head and my heart sank into my stomach.
I wondered immediately what she meant by I wouldn't know what awaits me, and I regretted that I didn't ask her immediately. The plan was to go look for her and ask her, but there was only one problem.
