I picked up the twig beside my feet as I watched Ramiel eat the boiled chickens I had brought him. I did it out of habit, especially when I was bothered, coming to watch Ramiel eat. Right now, I wasn't just bothered I was confused.

He looked adorable, his white fur glistening in the light of the evening sun. He and the photo of the white wolf in my room were the only connections I had to my birth Mom.

A part of me wished I missed her, and I wondered how I could miss something I never had.
