I open my eyes to see Jayden staring worriedly at me.

“What's wrong?” I ask, sitting up.

I notice it's morning already. The Rolex wall clock Maddie gifted me on my 19th birthday reads 1:00 am. Was I unconscious for that long? I only saw a little. I notice the area of the bed I'm lying on is soaked.

“You've been out for too long, and your body is burning”, Jayden says in a soft caring voice. “I shouldn't have let you see it yet. I'm not sure you're strong enough”.
