I groaned and touched my head, wincing as a sharp throb pulsed through my skull.

“What the hell…” I muttered hoarsely. It felt like someone was pounding a hammer inside my brain.

I groaned again, pressing my palm harder against my forehead. Every inch of my body felt sore, like I had run a marathon or been hit by a truck. I rolled onto my back and exhaled, hoping the ceiling would stop spinning. But the cold air brushing across my chest made me freeze.
