She saw Sid turn his head. Sid's bangs are thin and indistinct over his eyes and eyebrows.

But his eyes and eyebrows were soft.

She tried to say Sid's name, but she still couldn't make a sound.

"Laura! Are you awake?! Laura... You scared the hell out of me... Laura!"

Mary finally reacted, a little incoherent walked over, took Laura's hand, and held it tightly. Her voice was tremulous, tears streaming down her cheeks.

She called to Laura again and again, exhaled and rubbed Laura's hand.

After about a minute of this, Mary finally got up and pointed to her throat, then to Laura's.
