"One more thing before everyone leaves."

Richard tapped his knife lightly against his water glass, and the conversation around the table stopped one by one.

“The photographer wants everyone at the house Thursday evening for a formal portrait session before Saturday’s gala.” He picked up his coffee. “And, I’ve also asked the tailor to come tomorrow for the final fittings.”

I stopped with my fork halfway to my mouth. “Thursday?”

He turned to me. "Yes, Roxy, is there a problem?"

“Actually, there is.” I set my fork down. “I have a deadline on Friday morning, and I need Thursday to finish it.”
