“She looks happy, doesn't she?”

Marcus stood beside me, nodding toward the dance floor.

Roxy laughed at something Daniel said. His hand rested on her lower back as he leaned toward her while they spoke, and from where I stood, they looked comfortable together too comfortable.

“Looks like it,” I said, taking a sip of my drink.

Marcus glanced at me. “You don’t have to pretend with me.”

“I’m not pretending.”

“Right.” He looked back at the dance floor. “Then why do you look like you want to drag him away from her?”

I shot him a warning look, and he raised his free hand in mock surrender....
