Mrs. Doris continued with her announcement. "Additionally, after the festivities conclude, a healer from the Council will visit our Academy."

The excitement dimmed slightly. Students looked confused.

"The healer will conduct routine checks on all students. Hollow shifting abilities. Scent defects. Any anomalies will be documented and addressed."

No! Damn it! Talia cursed in her mind. 

‘This is it. We're going to get caught.’ Titi's voice was panicked.

Talia's hands formed into a tight fist as she struggled to keep her breathing even.

Derek leaned over, eyeing her with worry. "You okay? You look pale."

"I'm fine," Talia lied through her teeth.
