Chapter 3 Three

Chapter 3 Three

The shadows of the forest seemed to wrap around me like a cloak as I raced through the trees, my heart pounding in my chest. Up ahead, I caught a glimpse of an opening in the trees and pushed my body even harder, bursting into the clearing illuminated by the moonlight.

There he stood, bathed in the pale glow – the mysterious rogue alpha. His gaze locked with mine, those feral eyes piercing straight through me.

"Well, well..." His deep voice rumbled. "What have we here?"

I should have turned and run, but I was utterly transfixed. Slowly, he stalked towards me, powerful muscles rippling beneath his tawny fur.

"Such a pretty little thing, wandering so far from home."

He was so close now, his musky scent enveloping me. I trembled as his low growl reverberated through me. Then, in one fluid motion, he shifted into his human form.

My breath caught at the sight of his chiseled, naked body. "Who... who are you?"

He laughed, a rich, gravelly sound. "You know exactly who and what I am, princess."

"You're the rogue," I whispered, unable to tear my eyes away. "The Alpha Luke of the renegade pack."

"Very astute." He reached out, running a finger along my jawline. "And you must be the lovely Diane I've heard so much about."

My pulse quickened at his touch. This was so wrong, and yet I couldn't pull away. "Why are you here? In my family's territory?"

"Now, now. Is that any way to greet a guest?" His lips curled into a wolfish grin. "I simply wished to lay eyes on the legendary hybrid princess with my own eyes."

"Well, you've seen me," I managed, struggling to keep my voice steady. "You should leave. Before the others find you..."

"Leave?" He tsked and closed the distance between us. "And miss the opportunity to get to know the fierce young woman who has all the wolves howling with desire?"

I couldn't breathe, couldn't think with his hard body pressed against mine. "You speak madness..."

"Do I?" He leaned in until his lips grazed my ear, making me shudder. "Run while you can, little princess. Because once I've tasted your forbidden fruit, you'll never want to escape me."

I was utterly ensnared, body and soul. No matter how I tried to fight it, I knew in that moment I was lost to this dangerous, forbidden creature and the fiery hunger blazing in his eyes.

My voice was barely above a whisper. "Who are you?"

His smoldering gaze held mine as the shadows danced across his face. "Your ruin, princess. I'm your ruin."

In that tense moment, the air crackled with an electric energy, pulling us into a maelstrom of desire and danger. His words echoed in my mind, each syllable a warning and a promise woven together. The primal part of me, the wolf-dragon within, stirred and recognized the challenge in his eyes.

I pushed against the intoxicating allure he held over me, summoning all of my willpower to regain control. "I will not be your ruin," I declared, my voice stronger despite the tremor that lingered.

Alpha Luke merely chuckled, the sound sending shivers down my spine. "Oh, but you will be mine, Diane. One way or another, fate has bound us together in this dance of shadows and secrets."

His words hung heavy in the air, mingling with the heady scent of the forest and the tangible tension between us. I could feel his breath ghosting over my skin, igniting a fire that threatened to consume me whole.

As his lips hovered dangerously close to mine, a whirlwind of conflicting emotions churned within me. The instinct to submit to his magnetic pull warred with the determination to resist at all costs. My heart thundered in my chest, each beat a reminder of the precarious balance between desire and self-preservation.

With a defiant glint in my eyes, I took a step back, breaking the unbearable closeness between us. "I am Diane, the princess of the Silvermoon Pack. I will not be swayed by your empty promises and dark intentions."

Alpha Luke's expression hardened for a fraction of a second before a smirk curved his lips, revealing a glimpse of predatory satisfaction. "Ah, but are they truly empty, princess? Or do you sense the truth that lies beneath the surface—raw and untamed?"

His words clawed at the edges of my resolve, stirring doubts and uncertainties in their wake. The allure of the forbidden danced like shadows in the moonlight, tempting me with the unknown depths of passion and danger. Despite my inner turmoil, a sense of duty and self-preservation anchored me to reality, reminding me of the consequences that awaited should I succumb to the rogue alpha's seduction.

Gathering the shreds of my wavering strength, I squared my shoulders and met his intense gaze with a steely resolve. "I am bound by loyalty and honor," I stated, each word a vow to my pack and myself. "No matter what desires may stir within me, I will not betray who I am."

Alpha Luke's smirk faded, replaced by a glint of something primal and fierce in his eyes. He circled me like a predator assessing its prey, his movements fluid and purposeful.

Then, in a single fluid motion, he shifted into his human form. My breath caught in my throat as I drank in his chiseled features, the angular lines of his naked body. Desire and dread warred within me as our eyes met again.

"Run," was all he said, his voice a deep, gravelly purr that raised the hairs on the back of my neck. "Run while you still can, little princess."

Every fiber of my being urged me to heed his words, to turn and flee back into the safety of the forest. But I remained paralyzed, torn between duty and an irresistible, forbidden longing.

The rogue alpha's lips curled into a predatory smile, and I knew in that moment I was utterly ensnared. No matter how I tried to fight it, I was lost to this dangerous creature and the fiery hunger blazing in his eyes.

My heart still racing, I held his smoldering gaze as the shadows danced across his face. Whatever happened next, there was no going back.
