Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Only Him.

Eight years ago

Tiffany.

The day I realized I love Noah was when he was singing to me, it was a usual occurrence but it was magical for me when he first did it and it has never stopped being magical.

“You know when you put your hand under your chin and listen to me like that, you make me feel like I am the most accomplished singer in the world.” Noah teased me after he sang the last lines of this song and put away his guitar only to look at me and see that I still had my chin in my hands as I stared at him with a mixture of awe on my face. Yes I know how I look because he brought a mirror one day to show me what I look like whenever he sings for me.

“You will be.” I tell him with all conviction. “In little to no time you will have hordes of fans screaming your name, just don’t forget about me then.”

He laughs. “Why will I forget about my number one fan? You will always be that for me.” He sighed.

“Noah, what’s wrong?” I asked him.

“Sometimes I feel like you will be the only fan I have.” Then he rushed out when he realized how that sound. “I don’t have anything wrong with you being my fan and all but I feel like this singing dream sometimes is just a castle I built in the air. Lofty dreams with no way of accomplishing them.”

“I believe that you can accomplish them, we will accomplish our dreams, besides this town is too small to hold us. We are meant for greater things, things that will be better accomplished once we leave this place behind for good.” I replied him as he smiled.

“Exactly, I can’t wait to see them act one of your books. Imagine the fame and the sold out tickets. Everybody will want to see how your mind works and I am scared that I will have to beat guys off with a stick when that do happen.”

I rolled my eyes at Noah’s words. As much as he likes, bluffing my ego up. It was still unrealistic. People don’t run after me, there are always people who are better and guys don’t really go for someone with brains.

“Hey, you have to believe in yourself. Just like how you are my number one fan, that’s how I will be yours too.”

“You won’t even read any of my writing.”

“That is a lie, I have read all your writings, except the voluminous ones. The ones which are as big as our biology text.” Noah fake shudders like the thought of the length alone was a nightmare.

“They are called Novels.” I corked an eyebrow at him.

“They take hours to read.” He returned as he uprooted a grass and used it to tickle my face.

“And still I am hoping that someone will take a chance on me and read them. Maybe I am the one with unrealistic dreams.” It was my turn to sigh as I laid my head on his legs.

“You?” Noah scoffed. “Please, you are too stubborn not to achieve your dreams no matter what they are. The only thing that can stand in the way of your dreams is just you.”

He said it with such conviction that I believed him. Maybe he was right, I was definitely his number one fan, no matter what happens.

Six years ago

“I cannot believe you Noah, you went back on your word. You told me that you would steer clear of her and you still didn’t.” I yelled in anger as I pushed him back. This was not fair. Yes I might have grown into a beautiful woman who only believes that because she has been told enough times but Noah had turned into a model, he grew into his tall frame, he was no longer the lanky nerdy kid I fell for on the outside, sure we are still the same on the inside but the cover was all that mattered to people.

“I didn’t go back on anything. She forced herself on me.” Noah tried to defend himself.

“And you certainly didn’t push her off you, you encouraged her and her bouncy petite figure when she certainly flew into your arms.”

“She is a cheerleader and I just scored the touchdown, we were both excited. It was instinctive.”

“Just like it is instinctive for the cheerleader and the quarterback to be together right?” I flung back at him but he paused.

“No, I will not give an answer to that, whether in a heated conversation or not. And don’t throw words like that to me. This third degree I am getting from you isn’t fair.”

“Isn’t fair? My boyfriend had his arms wrapped around the laps of an eighteen year old girl while she plastered her front to his, believe me I am being plenty fair right now.” I screamed at his face.

“And why is that getting you worked up when you know that I am not going to stray from with, especially with her.” Noah grips his hair in frustration.

“You might already have.” I rolled my eyes.

Noah body went taunt as she swung his head to me. “Is that what you think?” He asked me with his voice calm like he was not shouting seconds ago. “That I have cheated on you.”

“I don’t know what to think, especially when my boyfriend allows something like that to happen.” I snapped at him.

Noah closed his eyes and took in a deep breathe. “I am not going to do this with you okay? Not on the night of my biggest win, when the whole town is out celebrating my victory, all I wanted was to celebrate with my girl and she decides to be a dramatic queen. I will talk to you tomorrow.”

He moved towards me like he was about to kiss me bye but I turned my face away at the last minutes. He stood there angry for some seconds before he stomped away and slammed the door behind him, in a distance I heard his truck rumbling and then a distinct sound of thunder. That was when I realized that rain started somewhere between the time we came home and I started in on him.

I hate it when he drives in the rain. I started pacing, gripping my phone tight but I couldn’t not call him so that I will not distract him.

I don’t know how long I was pacing, worried out of my mind when I call came through.

“Yes?” I picked without checking who was calling.

“Just me.” Noah voice came in as I sagged in relief. “I am still mad at you but I got home safely, now rest.” With those words he hanged up.

Then I knew. He loves me and I love him and I will probably love only him for all times.
