Lisa decided to think about everything first before making a decision. It was two in the afternoon when she got home and she smiled at herself realizing everywhere was silent.
'But where are the maids?' She asked no one in particular.
Though it was to her advantage since she wanted some time alone, she found it quite strange. They had five maids and never for once we're all of them on leave.
She pushed the thoughts away and walked inside heading for the stairs when she saw her mother lying next to the last stair in her own blood.
She froze on the ground as her handbag fell. She couldn't tell how long she was standing there but when she finally regained herself she let out a loud scream that could make someone go deaf.
The scream made the gateman run inside the house.
'Mummy! Mummy!' She ran to her shaking her body but it was cold.
'Ma'am, what's the problem?' Simon the gateman asked.
'Ca...l...l...m...y...da...d...,' her voice broke as her body trembled.
'What happened? Your dad is inside. They came back with a taxi and I haven't seen him leave,' Simon said.
'Daddy!' Lisa yelled but got no response.
From afar she was breathing and Lisa was scared to lose her.
Simon took the house phone and called for an ambulance instead.
Damian entered the room that was once theirs before he started sleeping in the guest room.
'Can't you knock?' Kendra snapped at him as she continued working on her nails.
'I want you to sign those papers,' he dropped the envelope before her.
'What's this?' Kendra asked.
'I guess you are not stupid and you can read,' he replied.
'I'm still your wife and I deserve respect because it's not easy to keep up with a man like you,' Damian was surprised that this time her hurtful words didn't hurt.
He was already used to them. Eric was right, he only needed to stop loving her and it was so easy than he thought. All he did was to stop living in the past and face the present.
See Kendra for who she is and not who she used to be. Kendra took the envelope and removed the content.
'You want to divorce me?' Kendra asked.
'It's good you can read, sign them, and leave my house. I'm better of alone than with a woman like you,' he spat.
Kendra realized she had pushed him too far.
'You can't divorce me,' she refused to accept.
'Why can't I?' Damian asked.
'Because you promised till death do us part,' she faked tears.
'After you are done with your drama, sign the papers. You promised the same thing but have you fulfilled your promise?' Damian asked and it got her.
. 'Does he know already?' that was the only question running through her mind.
Damian walked out, he didn't feel like going to work. He went to his house office and worked from there. He felt relieved and now waited for her to sign to put an end to all his misery. He was already tied and still cared about her enough to give her twenty-five million dollars to support herself.
Eric said he was too generous and Kendra deserved nothing but he wanted to give her money to avoid being disturb. He knew Kendra won't let him go that easily.
Kendra locked the door after Damian left and picked her phone calling Ace.
'Hey babe,' Ace called out.
He was happy to hear her voice since the day he left one week ago.
'He gave me divorce papers,' Kendra went straight to the point.
'You were scared to hurt him and he has made things easier for. Sign then, I can't wait for you to be all mine,' Ace said dreamingly.
'Then where will we get the money to support ourselves?' Kendra asked getting irritated.
She expected him not to support the divorce and tell her what to do next.
'I have all the money you've been sending to my account. I never use it, I only bought the apartment,' Ace explained.
'If he finds out I've been stealing from him then rest assured I'm going to prison and me being here is to make sure he doesn't find out,' Kendra said.
'Ok, I have a plan,'
'Which is?' Kendra asked attentively curiously.
She listened attentively as Ace explained the whole plan to her.
'You are a genius,' she complimented him.
'Be careful as you execute the plan,' Ace advised.
'I will, Love you,' she promised.
They talked for a while making promises before Kendra hanged up.
Lisa called her dad again but his phone wasn't going through.
'The phone is now switched off,' she complained to Sam who was beside her.
'Come down, maybe it's network issues. Your mom will be fine,' Sam comforted her.
'Her breathing was low and someone could think she wasn't breathing. Dad should be here,' she said in tears.
Just then, the doctor came out.
'You are her family?' the doctor asked them.
'She is my mother,' Lisa said immediately.
'I'm sorry...,' the doctor started but Lisa interrupted her.
'No need to be, how is she? She's okay? She wants to see me?' Lisa asked ready to go to the ward.
'I'm sorry but we lost her,' the doctor said.
'My mom can't get lost, she was unconscious,'
'What I mean is that she's dead. When she arrived it was too late to save her as she had lost so much blood,' the doctor explained.
Lisa didn't do anything. She just stared at the doctor then burst into laughter.
