Clarissa's eyes slowly fluttered open, her gaze blurry and unfocused. She was met with the beeping of machines and the soft hum of the hospital room. As her vision cleared, she saw Annie sitting beside her, a look of relief and concern etched on her face.

"Clarissa, oh thank God you're awake," Annie said, her voice trembling with emotion.

Clarissa's eyes narrowed, her mind foggy and unclear. She tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her abdomen, making her gasp.

"Easy, Clarissa," Annie said, gently pushing her back onto the bed. "You've been through a lot. Just rest."
