Barry
I was sitting in my private plane on my way to China to meet a business tycoon. The pain from Clarissa's bite still hurts and it made me less comfortable.
My mouth was on fire, and I felt pain in my tongue. I groaned angrily, gritted my teeth in agony, and wished I had enough time to teach that bitch a lesson before I left the house.
However, my brother Danny had arrived, and he would do me the honor. I couldn't wait to hear stories of her misery when I returned.
Why is she always trying to win my heart? Why can't she let me hate on her? When I sought to marry her, it was never for love or affection.
As a businessman, I needed a wife so I could pretend to have a family. It creates more opportunities for my businesses.
When I met Mr. Lance, I saw how desperate he was to save his sick wife. I saw the young lady beside him, and I just knew she must be the daughter.
She was beautiful. Her hazel eyes and gentle demeanor captivated me and I began to watch her closely. She was the most presentable woman I had ever seen.
She was just the perfect wife I wanted. Calm, beautiful, sexy, good manners, respectful, and very feminine.
I couldn't let the opportunity pass by, so I proposed a marriage in exchange for sponsoring the treatment of the dying woman.
Everything went as planned but after Clarissa moved into my house as my wife, I realized that I had made the biggest mistake of my life.
I brought home a weapon forged for my destruction.
It dawned on me when I realized that I was falling in love with the beautiful damsel. People like me, we don't love. Love makes us weak and exposed to danger.
Unfortunately for me, I was too late. Divorcing her now would do far more damage to my reputation.
No matter how hard I tried, her enchantment over me grew stronger by the day.
To stop myself from loving her, I started keeping strippers around me regularly. I even started to take them home just to make Clarissa hate me and stop trying to be a good wife.
All my efforts failed, so I became the monster she didn't see coming.
"Sir, you have a phone call," one of my servants said, and I stretched out my hand carelessly while relaxing on the soft cushion.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"It's... uhm... Danny Boy," he pronounced in a reluctant voice, and I sat upright. I took the phone instantly.
"Hey," I spoke into the phone, and Danny's rambling came up.
"Asshole. You wanna tell me what your problem is with Clarissa?"
I paused and readjusted on my seat.
"What do you mean?" I asked with a furrowed brow that should express my confusion, as though he was standing right before me.
"You know what I'm talking about Barry. If you so much hate her why don't you just divorce her? She's not a slave you know. Why the f*ck is she in a cage?" he asked.
Even though we were leagues away from each other, I could feel the intensity and burning anger in his voice. I scoffed and withheld my breath.
"You fucking asshole!" I growled as my eyes shot with rage.
"What have you done with Clarissa? You're not allowed to stay an inch next to her, brother. She's mine and I'll handle her the way that pleases me. Understood?" I yelled back at him, and I heard him snort on the phone.
"Well then, it's a good thing you're not here. I'll see you on your return, brother," Danny said. Before I could utter another word, the call dropped. I dialed his phone again, and this time, it wasn't connecting.
Suddenly, I felt a touch of ice running down my spine. I began to imagine every possibility. What could Danny be doing with Clarissa?
What if he is fucking her now that I'm away? I thought inwardly, then I felt a sharp pain on my forehead and I pressed hard.
I grunt in pain and my lips quivered.
I clenched my fist tightly in regret but I can't turn back now.
The thought of losing Clarissa crept upon me and I felt my heart beating with pace.
Clarissa is mine, I declared, but my fear and insecurities enveloped me like a cozy blanket on a cold winter night.
