I boarded the bus from the bus stop and sat on an empty seat as the bus moved along

What a bad first day at school, how did I even get into Jade's bad side?, Now my plan to leave a quiet life in school has been ruined

Minutes later, the bus stopped and I came down. I walked down the road as I found my way to my house

I checked the door mat but the key wasn't there, I guess someone is already home before me, probably Sophie

I opened the door and Sophie ran to hug me, she always does that

"Welcome Ethan, how was your first day in RHS?" She asked

"Bad" I said as I sat on a chair

"What happened" she asked concerned

"I'll tell you later but who's in the kitchen" I asked as I heard some noises from the kitchen

"Oh that, you aren't gonna like it" she said shaking her head

"Who..." I was left speechless as I saw Josh coming out of the kitchen

"Josh!?" I exclaimed as I stood up but it was more like a question

"Hey little brother" he said as came to hug me "Congratulations on making it into RHS, I always knew you were gonna make it big" he said with a smile as he sat down

"What are you doing here, what about your college?" I asked

"Forget it Ethan, I give up on college, studying isn't meant for me"

"What!, So you left college, just like that?, Do you know how Dad has struggled to send you to college and now you are giving it up?" I asked not believing what I just heard

"Don't worry Ethan, I've found a job am doing, and we'll be moving out of this slump soon" Josh said with a smile

"What job?" I asked

"You don't need to know, you are becoming extremely talkative for your personality"

I looked at him in disgust as I found my way to my room while Sophie called after me

Could my day get any worse?, I go to a new school and am already a prey for the school's biggest bully, I come back home and I meet Josh, he has always been the rough and wayward one, and him being back now only means trouble is not far away. How could he give up going to college, after everything Dad went through to send him to college, I even had to take part-time jobs just to raise enough money, now his giving it all up?

"Don't get yourself worked up over Josh, Ethan, everything will be fine" Sophie said in her small sooting voice

"Does Dad know about Josh, that he's back?" I asked Sophie

"No" she replied

"Okay" I said as I removed my jacket and I noticed a bag in the room

"Whose bag is that?" I asked

"It's for Josh, he said he'll be staying in your room" she answered

I sighed as I dropped my jacket on the bed, I just hope Josh doesn't bring any troubles this time

The driver dropped me at home and I went inside the house

"Jade what took you so long, school closed more than an hour ago" Mom said as soon as I came in

"Come on Mom, do you have to nag at me all the time?" I asked as I slumped down on the couch

"So now am nagging?" Mom asked raising her brows

"Leave the girl alone dear, why are you always on her throat" my dad said climbing down the said

"Dad" I said as I stood up to hug him

"My pumpkin, how was school today?" He asked

"Not that bad, though some guys made me angry" I said with a pout

"How dare they" Dad said

"Not to worry Dad, I've already taken care of it" I said with a smile

"That's my girl"

"Will you stop spoiling this girl" Mom said

"Am not spoiling her" Dad said

"I won't argue with you right now, you are almost late for your flight" Mom said, it was then I noticed the suitcase in Dad's hand

"Where are you going Dad" I asked

"On a business trip pumpkin, to the UK" Dad said

"Okay, for how many days will you be gone?" I asked

"Actually, I'll be gone for 3 months pumpkin" Dad said

"What!!, You'll be gone for that long?" I exclaimed

"Yes, sorry pumpkin, its an emergency and I really have to go" Dad said

"No Dad, please don't go" I pleaded

"It's an important business trip Jade, your Dad has to go but don't worry, I'll take care of his little pumpkin well" Mom said with a creepy smile

"No Dad, please don't go, don't leave me alone with Mom" I pleaded with Dad

"Come on Jade, you're in save hands" Mom said still with her creepy smile

"Am so not in save hands Dad, just take me with you"

"You know I can't take you with me pumpkin, what about your school" dad said

"I'll apply for the online class, just don't leave me alone with Mom" I cried

"Sorry pumpkin, I really have to go" Dad said giving me a kiss on the forehead

"Goodbye sweetheart, take care of yourself" Mom said hugging Dad

Before I knew what was going on, I heard dad's car zoom out of the house. Mom is so going to maltreat me now

Mom came back into the sitting room

"Now Jade, let's talk about your poor grades" she said with a smirk
