Flashback...
Airin was walking in a hurry . She also looked at her wristwatch. She’s supposed to meet her best friend, Skye, at the botanical garden located behind the university gym. Skye told her that she has something important to tell to her. They are supposed to meet at exactly two in the afternoon but because she was too focused on reading romance novel in the library that she forgot the time.
So here's the outcome, she's an hour late. God, Skye's ears and nose (and whatever else that has a hole) must have been smoking for so long because she made her wait. It’s not that she mean it, it’s just that she was engrossed on what she was reading.
"You're dead, Airin Nessa. Skye's mouth will surely set you on fire. What a waste of your cuteness, God," Airin said to herself and looked at her wristwatch again.
Because she was not looking at the road, she just felt herself run into something hard. She sat down because of the sheer force of the impact. She let go of the books she was holding as she placed her hands on the floor.
"Ouch, that hurt," Airin moaned as she felt the pain in her hands. Add to that the fact that her bum was throbbing as well.
"I'm sorry, Miss. Here, let me help you," said a muffled voice.
Airin immediately looked at the source of that voice. The first thing that startled her was the pair of blue eyes that was looking at her. Cool and refreshing. Worry was written all over his face as he looked at her. The only hard thing she had just collided with was this, his body.
Wow. Was he working out frequently for this body to become that hard and strong?
He held out his right hand to Airin and she seemed to be mesmerized by it. He supports her to stand. Then he picked up her books and handed them to her.
"Here. Sorry again."
"Thank you. And I'm sorry, too. I'm not looking to where I'm going so—"
"Hey, stop it. I'm the one who should be saying sorry. I'm also in a hurry so I didn't notice you," he interrupted Airin's apology. "Are you okay? Do you want me to take you to the clinic?”
Airin shook her head and smiled at the man. "I'm fine. I’m not hurt anywhere," she lied and simply hid her hands behind her back. She could feel the pain there. It must have been scratched when she fell down.
Airin's eyes widened when the man suddenly grabbed her arm. He gently pulled her arm until he could see her hands.
"Shit. I'm really sorry," he softly said. He was about to touch her hand when he stilled. Only now did Airin stare at her hands intently. It was bleeding but not that bad. "This is bad. I'll take you to the clinic."
"But—"
"No buts, Miss. It's bleeding so bad and your hand might get infected. What will you do if that happens, huh?”
Airin wanted to let out a dreamy sigh when she noticed how worried he was when he saw her wounds. It's rare for a man like this to do that. Some would even get angry if they collided to someone even if they were at fault. Some would even act like nothing happened!
But this guy, he was different. He even offered to accompany her to the clinic. That was nice. Airin could feel that this wasn't an act. It was a simple gesture but in this kind of era, this was plenty already.
"Okay," Airin agreed with the man.
He lightly held her arm and then guided her to the clinic. All the while, Airin could not help but think how handsome this guy was.
"Your wound needs to be cleaned and bandaged so I can do it instead. If we wait for Nurse Jen, maybe the train will come out of your wound since she is not here yet," said the man who collided with Airin jokingly. Oh my God! Until now, she has not asked for his name.
He is currently searching the medicine cabinet for medicine and bandages. Airin laughed slightly because of his corny joke. They had only been talking about it for a while but she noticed that he was funny and naughty. Her first impression was that he was a quiet and reserved man. But Airin was wrong. He was the exact opposite of her first impressions of him.
"Just hand me your medicine and bandage. I'll take care of it myself. You're going somewhere, aren't you?" said Airin and tried to get the medicine from him.
"How many times has your mother give birth to you and why are you so naughty?" he turned to her then smiled broadly. It was as if his eyes had turned light blue because of the soft expression in there. Maybe it's also because of the light coming from the sunlight.
Cool.
"I don't know, eh. Maybe about ten," Airin joked.
He shook with laughter before turning his attention back to searching the medicine cabinet. Airin, on the other hand, continued to look at him in his entirety. He has a nice back and behind. His body is really masculine.
"Are you okay?"
Airin frowned. She did not notice that he was already close to her right now. He was leaning towards her as if he wanted to check whether she was okay or not.
"I'm fine," Airin blushed. She bent down slightly to hide the redness on her cheeks.
He took the Monobloc chair to the side and positioned it in front of her. He sat there and then grabbed her arm.
"Tell me if it hurts, okay?"
Airin nodded slightly as she stared intently at the bottle he was holding. Alcohol. She literally froze when she saw that. She was terrified of alcohol. When she is injured, she only uses soap because the alcohol stings!
"W-what are you doing ?!" she immediately said as she grabbed his arm that was holding the cotton. She immediately hid her hand behind her back. And even though it felt so good to hold his arm, her fear of alcohol was still prevalent, okay.
"It will clean your wound, probably."
"Why are you using alcohol? Why can’t you use, uh, something like, betadine?"
"Don't tell me you're afraid of alcohol?" there is a teasing melody in his voice. His blue eyes were sparkling with amusement, as if the thought of her being afraid of alcohol was so damn funny.
Airin glared at the man and then stared at him. "Of course not! I'm not afraid of alcohol. I’m not a chicken. It’s just a small thing. Do you want me to drink that, because I will!"
"That's it then." He quickly grabbed her arm then brought it close to his face. He was about to coat it with cotton wool and alcohol when she quickly pushed his face away.
"Wait! I'm not prepared yet! My God! That hurts! I'm going to die, promise!" Airin panicked as she closed her eyes tightly.
She heard no answer from the man. She also did not feel the touch of cotton with alcohol in his hand. She slowly looked up and when she focused on the man in front of her, then she remembered that she was holding it in her face.
She quickly removed her hand from her face. She noticed the full-blown amusement that was written all over his face. His shoulder also shook slightly, a sign that he was holding back his laughter.
Oh my fucking God.
But he looked so damn handsome right now.
"What's funny, huh ?!" Airin couldn't help but sigh at to cover up the embarrassment she was feeling right now.
"You. It's only an alcohol but you’re too scared. You look like a child," he said smiling. He even covered his mouth with his hand to maybe hide his laughter. But his laughter still did not escape her hearing. He was so irritating and cute at the same time.
Again and again, he looked so handsome and adorable right now but still!
She narrowed her eyes at him. "That's not funny!"
"Okay."
"I said it’s not funny!"
"Yes."
He still continued to laugh.
Airin folded her arms as she remained still. She smirked at the man and avoided looking at him even though he had stopped laughing.
"I'm done laughing." He coughed to maybe stop laughing again. When Airin turned it around, the two of them looked right. "I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Alessandro Crawford. Fifth year student, from engineering department. Nice to meet you ..." he trailed off.
"Airin. Airin Nessa Chua. Nice to meet you, too, even if you're teasing me," she replied.
Just a name, it's a dish. Add the body, hala, it's lunch time, said the lame part of his brain.
It held out the palm to him. None of his own assumes that. Her attention was focused on his eyes. He was just overwhelmed when he felt pain in his hand.
"There. I should just comfort you so you don't feel scared. It's really a bit painful but it's not scary, is it?"
Airin looked at Alessandro in surprise and noticed that he was looking at his hand. He thought it would just shake hands! By the way, it simply treated his hand. Its eyes are still okay distraction.
"I'll wrap it using this bandage then you're ready to go. By the way, you have a nice name, Airin."
Airin's whole face blushed because of what he said. He doesn't lack praise but this is the first time he blushed just because his name was said to be beautiful!
It's just his name, he's affected! My God.
"Good as new," Alessandro said after adjusting the bandage on his hand.
"Thank you."
"You don't have to mention it, Airin," she replied smiling.
Alessandro's mouth opened ready to say more when the door of the clinic opened and a man was spit out.
"You're here, Les! I've been looking for you for a while. You look like a badtrip. Coach Enzo is looking for you. All right, let's spin you twenty laps around the court," said the newcomer.
"Fine, fine. I'll be next."
The man Alessandro was talking to smiled before leaving.
Alessandro immediately turned to him. "Got to go, Airin. Keep your hand, ah."
Airin just nodded as his gaze followed Alessandro's receding figure. She pressed her hands against her chest while thinking about this blue-eyed guy who managed to steal her attention.
"Alessandro Crawford. Nice name. Nice behind. Nice back. Nice eyes. Nice everything. I guess I'll crush you, dude," he said to himself.
Yeah, she was weird like that.
