“I'm fine, Mum.” I breathe in, wiping my tears away. “Trust me, I'm fine, Mummy.”

The next moment, a car drove into the driveway, and when I looked, I saw Scott stepping out of it.

“I have to leave right now, Mum,” I said before ending the call, wiping my face, and smoothing my dress so he wouldn't know what just happened.
